Where the Locals Go Coupon Spotlight- Lone Gull Coffeehouse

Where The Locals Go

In light of my coffee tipping rant yesterday I thought I’d share some love to another local coffee shop in todays Where The Locals Go coupon spotlight.

The Lone Gull Coffeehouse offers a free refill with the purchase of a travel mug. So there’s another $2 or more in savings from the $10 Where The Locals Go coupon book.

Just like The Pleasant Street Tea Co and Coffee Bar, The Lone Gull offers free Wi-Fi for your laptop.

Lobster Boat Navigation System Showing Boat at Our Dock

You can see the course this boat took and it docked right at our dock in the picture. It’s amazing the accuracy of GPS today, especially when coupled with a navigational system.

Snoop Mad Dances (not really)

I always find it amusing when parents and grandparents talk about their children as if they are world class athletes or mensa candidates.

My children are different though. They really are special. Just last week we were contacted by the producers of Dancing with The Stars. They want Snoop Mad to be the first one year old to enter the competition because she’s that good. Seriously.

Corn Salad

Here is the recipe for the Corn Salad that I’ve been getting requests for. It comes from the Barefoot Contessa-

Fresh Corn Salad

5 ears of corn, shucked
1/2 cup small-diced red onion (1 small onion)
3 tablespoons cider vinegar
3 tablespoons good olive oil
1/2 teaspoon kosher salt
1/2 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
1/2 cup julienned fresh basil leaves

In a large pot of boiling salted water, cook the corn for 3 minutes until the starchiness is just gone. Drain and immerse it in ice water to stop the cooking and to set the color. When the corn is cool, cut the kernels off the cob, cutting close to the cob.
Toss the kernels in a large bowl with the red onions, vinegar, olive oil, salt, and pepper. Just before serving, toss in the fresh basil. Taste for seasonings and serve cold or at room temperature.
