Whew! What a ride!

This Christmas season was a roller coaster ride of huge proportions. The calendars flew off the shelves faster than I could produce them. So I’ll need a new plan for next year! The two schools where I teach had more work than I thought, so although I was super busy, I was able to participate in the kids’ plays and concerts. Adorable! I got to shop with and for my own kids and grandkids and loved spending time with them.

Unfortunately, my mother had to finally go to a nursing home. My sister Pat did an incredible job of taking care of her way above the call of duty. She and my brother-in-law were able to keep her home for quite a while. A big thank you goes out to  our long time family friend Jan Dunsky (who works at Adult Foster Care) for her help and support throughout this difficult decision. But on the upside, Mom was with the whole family at Pat and Bob’s house yesterday and enjoyed having her favorite dog Tia next to her in the big recliner.

Although it’s been pretty stressful for the whole family this season, yesterday was just perfect. I’m so thankful for my family and friends who make life an amazing roller coaster ride!    —Sharon

Ready, Set, SHOP!

OK. It’s December 22 and I need to start shopping. But there’s still time! And if I did it earlier, I would have spent money on things like clothes and stuff for me.

So….

Who has their shopping all done?

Calendar Crazy!

Never did I think that these calendars would be so popular. Whenever I’m not working, I’m printing, cutting or assembling them. Right after the holidays, I’ll look for a more efficient way to do them for next year.

I’ve been sending them all over the country. If you want any of the three calendars, please order them ASAP. You can also get them at PRESENT and the Harbor Loop Gift Shop. Thanks!

Here’s the link to view the calendars.

Where Zat? I need HELP!!!

Ok…I’m not smarter than a 5th grader. Good thing I teach preschool! I thought it was Conomo Point in Essex. WRONG! I gotta admit I need a GPS to get to Ipswich. So….

I need your help. Who came the closest first? I’ll leave it up to the readers.

Thanks,everyone!

Here’s a better view of where the photo was taken.

We finally have a WINNER!

Several of you got the right answer as to where the WhereZat house was. John H. was the first one to get the location. It’s the house on the corner of Tregony Bow in Rockport. The house was the employees’ quarters for the old Turk’s Head Inn. I took photos for my friend Don Dunsky who’s selling it. It has a lot of charm. Anyone have more info on the history of the house?

So John, Joey has your prize at the dock! Congratulations to you and everyone else for identifying this week’s location! See ya next week!

Yep, It’s my Toyota steering wheel!

As I sat in traffic Sunday waiting patiently for the Santa parade, I sillily (I love fake words)snapped a photo with my phone of my RAV4 steering wheel.

Everyone got this one!

THURSDAY NOVEMBER 19

Dave Sag’s Blues Party @ the Rhumb Line

We’re gettin’ on track for the holiday season by  bringin’ in our favorite chef and dishwasher: Mr. Mike O’Connell. His latest book: “Cooking With Beano” Is number one, nationally, and number two, locally. We eggspect some wild souffles and panting pancakes out of our gravelly genius, so get there early to get a seat.
Pushing him forward into the mix will be Leo Shimataro(sp.?) on drumbs and symbols, and of course, Greg T. on catarrh, and myself. Should be a wild time.

From Doug Silva @ THE TOPSIDE GRILLE

What’s up everyone? This Thursday I have a great band playing at The Topside. The Band, Steppers Heaven, come from Boston and they play an infusion of Blues, R&B, Funk, & Rock. I had them down last month and they were unbelievable! Honestly, if you can only make it down once to check out a band at the place, this is the one to check out. If you were there last time, you know how good they are. 2009 winners of the NEUMA (New England Urban Music Awards) categories Best blues band, Best new single, Best original music, and Best female vocalist. Also, a featured group as part of the Boston Blues Society! I am expecting a great turnout and I’m going to be opening up the back lounge for the night! Be sure to get there early if you can! I will be behind the bar as always, and it’s always easier for me to socialize a bit more before the show. Be sure to try some food/appetizers & cocktails if you haven’t tried them yet. Thanks for the continued support, the night has been a success so far and the music has been incredible, hope to see you there! Thursday night 8-11. I’ll be there after 5:00.

Here is a list of other upcoming shows:

FRIDAY NOVEMBER 20

From Frank Hawks
Slingdaddy has its first show at the Rhumbline in Gloucester, this
Friday, Nov 20th.  This one could be one for the ages….the stars have
aligned in such a way that members of one of Gloucester’s band’s from the
heyday of such venues as Li’l Earl’s are able to converge and thus there
will be a  mini-reunion of “Macduff”.  For those of you who remember the
vocals of Rebecca Jackson, the thundering rhythm section of  Spanks and Orlando with the twin Marshalls of them Hawks(e)s boys – we will all be there.  There will definitely be some “sittin’ in” going on.  (Don’t
worry, the twin Marshalls will stay at home).

—————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————–

SATURDAY NOVEMBER 21

Also from Frank Hawks

For a change of pace, my other project, the Megan McKenzie Band will be
at Elliot’s @ the Blackburn on Saturday, November 21st.  Fronted by the
powerful vocals of Megan Downey, and backed by local veterans of the
Gloucester music scene, Megan McKenzie Band performs songs from the 60’s to the present.  Remember, this show is from 8:30pm to 11:30pm.

From GMG’s own Mike Lindberg

Don’t miss Exit 11 this coming Saturday Night at Camerons. We don’t get together that often so it’s sure to be a great time. See you there!
