Where Zat? Winner!

Rob Hall is this week’s winner! He creatively displayed his answer with Google Maps. Congratulations, Rob and to everyone else who knew the location as the little pond on the right off 127 on the Manchester/Magnolia line. At one time the owners had a heater around the little house to keep the water from freezing. The ducks were happy until the Canada geese took over!

  1. Hey sharon, isn’t that the little duck pond right on the side of Route 127 in Magnolia?

  2. Nate says:

Well, I’ve already won a shirt, but I will take a stab at this. Is that the little pond that is on the left side of the road as you approach Long Beach Dairy Maid? That photo looks so familiar.

  3. David Murray says:

The WhereZat photo: is that the pond on Eastern Ave.?

  4. jackie says:

Is it on 127A across the road from the road going to Magnolia? Just a thought—that little pond right there?

  5. Mike N. says:

The pond on Summer St. in Manchester? Across from Raymond St.

  6. dean horne says:

that is the pond opposite side of where the ducks hang out on western ave behind the guys house that is at the intersection

This photo was taken several years ago, but I know that someone with sharp eyes who passes by this spot each day will be able to identify this location. It’s right on a main road. Good luck and thanks for playing!     —-Sharon

It’s a great day to shop downtown!

It’s Black Friday and everyone else is “over the bridge” and “up the line” bumping elbows at the malls, but we locals can stay on the island with our wish lists. The pop-up shop(see related Times article) Present has an incredible selection of unique gifts.

Present is a seasonal art collective made up of fifteen local men and women offering a bevy of eclectic fine craft. Living, creating and recycling on Cape Ann are common themes reflected in the goods including bags made from reclaimed sweaters and recycled sailcloth. Look for jingle flounder, lovely wreaths, hand-knit hats, pottery, felted flowers and bowls, fish prints, and photographs inspired by local people and landscapes.

Delightfully unusual wares also include unique prints and collages, hand-dyed clothing printed with seaweed and other found materials, clever clothing and accessories for children, iron-pressed sandwich keepers, hand-knit wire jewelry, beautifully sewn doll clothes, and itty bitty jewels. Present is a great place to shop for pretty things and one-of-a kind gifts and ornaments.

Present is Karen Chapin, Amanda Cook, Jane Cunningham, Jessica Demarjian, Elizabeth Grammas, Frieda Grotjahn, Jill Josephson, Pam Lally, Sharon Lowe, Stephanie Mason Thibodeau, Camilla MacFadyen, Melanie Murray-Brown, Erin and Scott Place, and Mary Rhinelander.

You can visit the holiday pop-up shop at 271 Main Street, Gloucester from November 6th through December 24th, 2010.

Hours: Monday through Saturday 10-6, Sunday 12-5; extended evening hours on Thursday; also open 6-9 on Men’s and Ladies’ Nights

Thanks!!    —Sharon

BTW- You can get my Cape Ann calendars at Present, and for those of you who live out of town, you can order them here.

Thanks,everybody, for playing!

  1. Nate says:

Pass by there everyday and it’s just up the road from my house in Lanesville. Boat sits on the Natti’s old property just across from the farm on Washington Street. Also between Canney and Butman quarries. Used to swim and fish there when I was a kid.

    Neat old boat.

    Nate

  2. It’s on Washington Street, after the fork with Langsford in Lanesville. Just past the Evangelical church, tucked into the trees on the right. Is that accurate enough? I run past their every other day. :)

  3. Anonymous says:

    The cove in Lanesville?

  4. dean horne says:

that is in lansville just past leverett street on your right i guess it is washington street

WhereZat? With a prize!

There are no clues for this one…If you’ve seen it, you’ll know where it is. You can see it from the road and it’s not on the water. Big help, huh?

Good luck and if you’re the first to identify the location, you git yerself one of them there GMG t-shirts! 🙂

From the Sun Up~Sun Down Calendar

This is one of my favorite shots  from the Sun Up~Sun Down calendar. People seem to be shopping early this year. A good sign! You can order your calendars online or at Present at 271 Main St.  Credit cards are accepted at either location. Thanks! —Sharon

WhereZat Winner!….Almost!

Swimdad has identified all but one of the 12 photos in this week’s game. Can anyone help him out? Little by little he’s gotten each one, but this one’s stumping him. He’s about to give up. Thanks for your help!!!

Here are his responses-

  1. swimdad says:

City hall skyline, Magnolia, Little River, Annisquam Light House, Niles Beach, Magnolia Road Pic, Thai House Good Harbor Beach, Unitarian Church, Sail boat Plum Cove, Man at the Wheel Blvd., Paint Factory and Thatchers Island Twin Lights

  2. swimdad says:

City Hall Skyline, Magnolia, Little River, Annisquam Light, Niles Beach, Magnolia, Thai House Good Harbor Beach, Unitarian Church, Plum Cove, Blvd. Man at the Wheel, Paint Factory and Thatchers Island Twin Lights

  3. Sharon says:

Swindad- very close, but not quite. Keep trying!

  4. swimdad says:

Change the church to the Trinity Congregational.

  5. Sharon says:

3,5, and 6 aren’t right yet, and the first guess on the church was correct, Swimdad. Keep going!

    • swimdad says:

The only place that #6 could be to me is Niles Pond. 3 and 5 I am totally stumped on. Not bad though for only being in Gloucester for 3 days out of the last 24 years! #5 Harbor Side of Rocky Neck by the old Rockaway Hotel and #3 no eye deer. I give up.

  6. Sharon says:

Good, you’ve gotten #5 and #6. Now a hint for #3. It’s a different view of one that you’ve already identified. You’re doin’ great!!

WhereZat? Challenge!

This is the back cover of the new Sun Up~Sun Down calendar. If you are the first person to identify all 12 photo locations, you will win a calendar of your choice! Some rules and regulations- Be as specific as possible- Atlantic Ocean or Gloucester harbor are just a little too vague. 😉

So have fun and good luck! And if you need a closer look, check out the Sun Up~Sun  Down calendar photos at Present!     — Sharon

Thank you!

From the Sun Up~Sun Down calendar

The calendars have been a popular item this year! So much so, I’ve had find someone to print them. Well, Bill Loicano at Seaside Graphics and his crew have been incredible. We’re now on the third calendar and as soon as that’s done, they’ll have to re-print the first one! A big thank you to the guys at Seaside! What a huge time saver for me!

And another big thank you goes out to everyone who has been supporting the sales of the calendars –Joey,Paul, Joanne, Amanda, everyone at Present– THANK YOU!

Here’s the link to the calendars and if you’re around town this weekend, be sure to stop in at Present at 271 Main St. across from Animal Krackers!
