The Bragas’s highly anticipated second stand alone restaurant, the new Italiano Restaurant and Bar, will be opening at 64 Main Street well before people flock to our coast this summer. The former space of La Trattoria is being transformed by RS Construction which also built the Dunkin Donuts in Magnolia and the Azorean’s gorgeous bar expansion and function addition. The new restaurant has been under major construction for months because the build out is much more than a revamp.  The small kitchen is GONE. The entire former function space in the back is a brand spanking new kitchen.

In a city of incredibly good eats how do you make yours stand out?

An excellent reputation helps: the Bragas opened Azorean in 2007 which quickly established a legion of loyal customers with its unique and exceptional cuisine. Besides quality, hard work and experience how about that awesome historic West End location. Italiano Restaurant joins a tipping point where Gloucester’s West End meets Boston’s North End. Italy Magazine I propose your next article in the series, Where to find Italy in America?- Gloucester’s West End! Come visit!

Main Street Gloucester sea serpent: Bob Ritchie Dogtown Books #shopsmall

Small business Saturday – how about an original newspaper story about Gloucester’s sea serpent? Dogtown Books will have that, rare and used books, work by local artists, and more.

Today is small business Saturday: Pauline’s Gifts

Amex rolled this out in 2010. I wonder who the early adapters were in Gloucester and Cape Ann?

goodlinens on Main Street any day now!

goodlinens is ready enough for its soft launch opening! More finishing and architectural details will continue through the summer and into the fall. Featured artisan panels and more inventory and stock will be added. Yet you just might have the chance to step inside if not today then any day soon! Jo Anne is a blur of activity.

BREAKING BUSINESS DISPATCH: Say thanks and goodbye G33K and welcome goodlinens on 130 Main St

G33K (‘geek’) a small business that was big in game will be closing its location in Gloucester, MA.

G33K is located in 130 Main Street between Dogtown Books and Main Street Art and Antiques. Make sure to stop by to say thanks and good luck! We were light customers–Pokémon packs and random t-shirt gifts—but always treated large. There is a store-wide closing sale on now.

When one door closes another opens. Welcome goodlinens opening July 1

Gloucester resident, business owner, designer and artisan JoAnne Chirico has been on the lookout for a ‘just right’ Main Street goodlinens headquarters for years, and boy has she found it! 130 Main Street is the one she’s been dreaming about as a retail work space, craft and creative show room. It is within an historic building and district, boasts 13 foot ceilings and has ample room for her vision and requirements. Did I mention great neighbors and the sunny side of the street?

As G33K moves out and goodlinens moves in to 130 Main Street, the space will be temporarily closed as it’s transformed in time for a July 1 soft summer launch and grand opening in September.

goodlinens new flagship store and open studio on Main Street will feature JoAnne’s handmade beautiful and functional designs along with selected hand made crafts from other artisans, local and beyond. The retail will include kitchen and housewares goods, unique and special objects, finds, and lighting. She embraces an open work studio concept in such an original and thoughtful way. This space will be a place for people making things. I expect it to be inspiring, playful, unexpected and comfortable. She has a lot in store for this store. She can’t wait to finally move boxes, case-goods and tables out of her home, her friends’ barns and other storage sites. Look for new Facebook and updates coming soon.

In the meantime, here’s a snapshot of JoAnne quickly sketching a layout with high points, and one of goodlinens videos shot by Gloucester cinematographers’ Yellow Hook Productions.
