Special Guest: JON BUTCHER!
Grammy-nominated Jon Butcher comes to the Rhumb Line
this week. His countless fine recordings, thrilling nation-wide
electric and acoustic performances, major motion picture
scores and more has rightfully earned him the status of
legend from coast to coast. Hard to believe we get chances
like this here in Gloucester – to be so close and intimate. To
feel it way down deep. Better get there early! We hit at 7. ~ Fly

Special Guest: JON BUTCHER!
His music is more than soulful voice and slick guitar. It’s
more than an evening’s entertainment – tho entertained you
most certainly shall be. Each song tells a moving story that
draws from the roots and depths of American history. From
the human spirit. From the heart. The legendary, Grammy-
nominated Jon Butcher is among us. Enough said. ~ Fly

Musical Guest: JON BUTCHER!
Fresh off another iconic National Anthem performance at
majestic Fenway Park, the legendary Jon Butcher graces our
stage at the Rhumb Line this week. Among the hardest working
people I’ve ever known, my friend Mr. Butcher never allows
himself to stand still. He continues to grow as an artist, and
spends each waking moment toward that end. Accordingly,
he’ll be featuring brand new material from his upcoming CD.
Every bit as gutsy, rootsy and soulful as we’ve always known
his music to be. Come meet Jon Butcher, up close and
personal. It all starts at 7! ~ Fly

Special Guest: JON BUTCHER!
The legendary Jon Butcher hits the Rhumb Line to put his
rootsy and soulful music on display once again. Away on the
west coast for some 3 decades, Jon has picked up exactly
where he left off since returning to us a few years ago. He
is a busy and driven man for sure, with new music weaved
into every show. These appearances are quite rare, so you
just don’t want to miss ‘em when they come around. ~ Fly

Most importantly we want to thank all the fans — especially GMG fans — who get off the couch and come out to support live music in our little slice of heaven up here on Boston’s north shore. As Dave Brown says, “We’re nothing without you!”
Here’s a little video treat — the Yardbirds having a bit of Halloween fun in PA last Saturday with Johnny A (who recently joined the band) on lead guitar (past Yardbirds lead guitar players include Eric Clapton, Jimmy Page & Jeff Beck, so I’d say our local guy, Johnny A., is in pretty good company.)
SELL OUT ALERT: There are only a few seats left for the Yardbirds show right down the road at Beverly’s Larcom Theatre with local favorites KBMGopening! Get tickets here before they’re all gone.

and accomplished guitar technique, Jon will be bringing his
latest (and highly acclaimed) CD, “Two Roads East”. When
he and I get together, it’s always sure to be pure magic!~ Fly

This photo by Sue Sanderson proves what Berklee Performance Center audience members were saying last night about Warren Haynes being enthralled by Jon’s guitar playing. There’s a big announcement about Gloucester’s own Jon Butcher coming in the next few days. Keep your eyes on GMG and get the scoop first!

Rock stars just keep coming to Gloucester. First it was T Max, publisher of The Noise, New England’s longest running music magazine. (See a series of videos we shot promoting Gloucester’s music scene here.)
Then Jon Butcher moved to Gloucester and you could see him acoustic at Jalapenos, Rhumb Line and Shalin Liu. Tomorrow, his band, The Jon Butcher Axis, releases their newest CD at a very special — and very much plugged in — CD Release Concert right down the road at Beverly’s Larcom Theatre.
In addition to music from his new CD, you’ll hear tunes from “Kiss the Sky”, a feature film directed by Norman Lang, produced by Bill Rosenthal (who will appear with the band tomorrow on keys) and starring Jon Butcher and Tara Buck Pierce (of HBO’s hit series “True Blood”). Jon has been commissioned to score the film, which is shooting in Boston, New York, Miami, London and Reykjavik Iceland through mid-2015. You can still get tickets here — and the best available seats are in the balcony here. So bop on down the road to Beverly tomorrow and catch a true rock star up close and personal. Here’s some stellar guitar work from his Larcom Theatre concert last April:

If you missed Gloucester’s Jon Butcher on Aurelia Nelson’s 104.9 radio show “Curtain Up” this morning, you can catch him on Carmelita’s Bay State Rock tonight at 11:30 on WAAF! Plus you’ll hear brand new songs from his upcoming CD, which you can get SIGNED on Saturday when he debuts the music LIVE @ the Larcom, just down the road in Beverly (tix still available here).
Here’s a song you won’t likely hear tonight, but you WILL on Saturday:
Two great chances to connect with local stars — Tonight Boston Music Award nominee Gracie Curran and her hot band are live on stage with Blues Music Award winner Victor Wainwright and his smokin’ band from Savanna GA right down the road at Beverly’s Larcom Theatre. Doors @ 7pm Concert @ 8. Let’s show these two young, rising stars that a little rain & wind won’t stop us from having fun. Good seats still left (especially in the balcony). Get them here.
Then, tomorrow morning you can hear Gloucester’s own Jon Butcher on Aurelia Nelson’s North Shore 104.9 radio show Curtain Up at 9AM (don’t forget to set your clocks back or you’ll be listening in at 8am instead). Jon will fill you in on his new CD, “Experienced!”, his film project “Kiss the Sky” and his concert at the Larcom Theatre next Saturday. Tickets are selling fast, so you’d better get yours soon. Get them here.
It’s the perfect weekend for an extra hour sleep. You’re gonna need it with all this excitement!
Fly Amero and Jon Butcher, sit in with Aurelia Nelson on her
acclaimed morning show, “Curtain Up” this Sunday at 9am to
discuss the upcoming Big, BIG STRUM event scheduled for
Saturday, October 4 at the Gloucester House, 63 Rogers Street,
Gloucester, MA. Amero and Butcher will be joined by Cliff
Goodwin (of Joe Cocker Band fame) via telephone. The three
frontline guitarists cover much ground in a short time, touching
on various aspects of their careers and reflecting on each other’s
history together – a history that very much includes fellow “Big
Strummer”, David Brown. For those living beyond radio signal’s
reach, simply go to the 104.9 site, http://www.northshore1049.com/
and click on “LISTEN LIVE” in the upper right corner for live
online streaming.
The Big, BIG STRUM:
Fly Amero (Orleans) – gtr, voc
Cliff Goodwin (Joe Cocker) – gtr, voc
David Brown (Billy Joel, Simon & Garfunkel) – gtr, voc
Jon Butcher (Jon Butcher Axis) – gtr, voc
