Electro/Mechanical Assembler

Contract- up to 18 months

Perform a wide variety of routine and non-routine electrical / mechanical assembly operations including installation of power distribution cables, harnesses.

· Follow work orders, schematics, wiring diagrams, engineering specifications, sketches, and written and / or verbal instructions to build electro-mechanical and or pneumatic assemblies, subassemblies and components.

· Complete rework on assemblies and / or systems as a result of testing.

What You Need to Bring to the Table:

· One to two (1-2) years electro-mechanical experience. Auto Mechanics is considered electro-mechanical.

· Basic computer skills necessary.

· Vacuum experience preferred.

· Ability to lift and / or carry up to 50 lbs.

· Ability to work in an environment which is subject to cold, heat, and noise.

· Willingness to work off shifts.

· Adherence to safety guidelines and Lean initiatives.

· Ability to work with flexibility in accomplishing tasks and minimal supervision.

· Ability to be a team player with good communications skills

· Responsibility for maintaining timely accurate records and logs.

Job Description:

Need a person that can perform small to medium size jobs using various construction methods – primarily unistrut, 80/20, and wire mesh panels. Will need to be able to route wiring and water lines along cable ways. This person will have to work with engineers and designers to review plans, provide constructive feedback and participate in a group collaboration for the various projects.

Job Requirements

  • 1st shift M-F with some OT, as needed
  • Able to perform construction tasks with little supervision
  • Able to work with metal materials in construction
  • Able to work on a ladder
  • Able to layout walls and hang doors
  • Should be familiar with Unistrut parts and construction
  • Should be familiar with 80/20 parts and construction
  • Should be familiar with Wire Mesh cable trays construction
  • Should be able to route wiring along cable trays
  • Should be able to route water lines along cable trays
  • Able to effectively communicate verbally and in writing
  • Must be able to work safely and follow safety procedures and protocols
  • Must be able to work with various hand tools, powered and not powered
    • Drill
    • Wrenches
    • Wire cutter

In 2014, the Massachusetts labor force was 3,570,000 (vs 3,626,800 in February 2017 ); and the North Shore accounted for 6.3%. Yesterday, the US Dept of Commerce Bureau of Economics announced the state by state breakdown of arts and culture employment –for the first time ever– based on the 2014 national data. MA arts and culture jobs were reported to be 128,350, and 3.6% total MA labor. Various reports overlap categories. Sometimes “Health and education” are packed together or “arts, entertainment, recreation and leisure”. In MA top industries such as Financial services (20%), Technology, Medicine and Life Sciences, Manufacturing, Fishing, and Tourism (125,000–note how similar in size this is to the arts and culture jobs) are discussed.

US Dept of Commerce Bureau of Economic Analysis reports the following MA stats: “The states with the highest concentration of arts and cultural jobs, with their location quotients: New York (1.47), Wyoming (1.30), Washington (1.28), California and Utah (both 1.17), Rhode Island and Colorado (1.13), Alaska (1.11), Massachusetts and Oregon (both 1.09)…The Location Quotient (LQ) is a measure of an industry’s concentration in a state or region relative to the industry’s national concentration. • As for compensation, in 2014 Massachusetts and NEFA had an LQ of 1.02 and 0.94 respectively. • In 2014, Massachusetts had a location quotient of 1.09 for ACPSA employment. In Massachusetts, therefore, ACPSA employment was 9 percent above the national average. By comparison, the LQ for arts-and-cultural employment in all states belonging to the U.S. regional arts organization NEFA (of which MA is a member) was 1.03 or 3 percent above the national average.

GIMMELIVE IS HIRING

Vickie and I are looking for someone who wants to learn the concert business and is willing to work at it with determined dedication. We’re a very small company. Everybody does everything, from booking to promotion to customer support to data entry to house and stage management to washing towels and shopping for the artists’ back-stage goodies. So will you.

This is not an easy job. Hours vary from week to week. Priorities can change suddenly without warning. No matter how much you prepare, the unexpected always happens. And sometimes it all seems to be going terribly wrong.

If you are an excellent communicator, great with people, thrive on challenge, love to learn, love music, embrace the unknown and can find clever ways to get stuff done with almost no supervision, this could be the job for you. It’s not an internship. You’ll get paid.

I seem to get on lists like this listing great and sometimes questionable job opportunities, but this one I might have to check out! Among the usual Pizza Hut Shift Managers, CVS Managment trainees, Night Life Photography Interns on the Riviera (Hmmmm..),  and of course Rent a Centers, check it out “Neurology” at a Hospital in Boston no less!! I had no idea I could be qualified for such a profession, but sign me up quick!! Mom would be so proud!

Want to work in the Concert Business?

We need help.  You probably know that we’re producing a new concert series at North Shore Music Theatre this summer featuring top local talent on stage with national recording stars (more info here).

As you can see from this video (taken from the Celebrate Gloucester DVD) concerts are a lot of work — and we do EVERYTHING, from dreaming up the idea to organizing talent, lights, sound, staging porta-potties … to convincing someone to purchase a VIP ticket when he wasn’t planning on it (you can see that in the video) to designing, printing and hanging posters to … well you get the idea.

So, if this looks like fun to you and you’re willing to work as hard as we do, we’ve got a job for you.  And it pays.  20 hours a week to start.  Full time later this year.  You need lots of energy, just the right amount of ambition, a love of live music, brilliant communication skills (texting doesn’t count) and fairly thick skin.
