Here is a link to all of our posts from on the set of the Adam Sandler Movie Grown Ups which filmed here last Summer. You can see many of the locations we took pictures last summer that are in the trailers
We’re told Sandler, in particular, is sorry to be returning to LA. The “Billy Madison” actor, who grew up in Manchester, N.H., enjoyed his rental house next to the Eastern Point Yacht Club in Gloucester so much that he’s offered to buy it from the owner. As one of Hollywood’s highest-paid actors – he earned an estimated $65 million last year – Sandler can certainly afford the oceanfront manse. Though he’s a big movie star, Sandler didn’t act like a diva, according to locals. He often played basketball at the Gloucester YMCA, and was a regular at Long Beach Dairy Maid, the Chinese restaurant Dragon Light, and at Frank’s Sub Zone, where owner Frank Carini hung a framed poster for Sandler’s latest flick “Funny People.” “Nice guy,” says Carini, who served the actor steak tips. “We don’t get a celebrity like him in here very often.”

Here’s Salma Hayek at last week’s Cape Ann Farmer’s Market. Salma is in town as part of the cast of the Adam Sandler movie Grown Ups. Don’t forget to shoot on down to the CAFM Thursdays from 3:30-6:30 at Harbor Loop. For more information- CapeAnnFarmersMarket.org
Friday after work I drove downtown to grab a cup of iced tea and while circling to find a parking spot I saw Rob Schneider sitting outside at the Pleasant Street Tea Co. I found a parking spot in front of Passports and treked up with camera in tow to snap a shot. First walking past him I asked if he was enjoying his stay in Gloucester and he said he loves it and the people were really nice. I didn’t whip out the camera but instead went inside and grabbed a fruited iced tea drink (Pleasant St Tea Co makes some really refreshing iced tea BTW).
So I was going to sheepishly ask Rob if he would mind me snapping a quick picture for the blog and after paying for my iced tea inside a group of folks had gathered around him.
I’ll tell you he couldn’t have been more patient or accommodating. What a sweet guy. He took a little time with each person, signed autographs and made conversation, never looking distressed or trying to rush folks along. I snapped a quick picture while he was posing for some other folks and then headed back to Passports.
This is the Essex River and Hog Island, directly across the street from where the Adam Sandler movie “Grown Ups” was being filmed last week. I went early in the morning and set up the tripod at 4:30 AM to take this dawn picture and to get a feeling for how accessible the set of Woodman’s was going to be. I didn’t feel like getting tossed from the set like the day before. So as I saw folks coming and going and I took this picture, I popped my head in to see the crew of people working like mad to put the inside of Woodman’s back together after filming all last week inside the building.
Yesterday morning I went back to Woodman’s to get some pictures when everyone was asleep or there was a skeleton crew but to my surprise there was a crew of about 20 people working feverishly to put the place back together to reopen for the weekend after filming all last week.

My buddy Brian (the rabbit) and I walked onto the set to try to get you folks some up close pics of the stars but we were rebuffed. Actually a more accurate description of what happened was we went into Dunkin Donuts next to Woodman’s and then took a sharp left onto the set and just kept walking until the security guy came and asked us to leave. Drat!
The things I do for you my readers!
Woodman’s building is completely covered in black tarps as they are shooting a night scene inside. What struck me funny is how they indiscriminately nailed strapping wood over the black tarp all over the old woodman’s building. There are going to either be a ton of nail holes left behind when that strapping is pulled off or they are doing to have to redo the siding.
Here is a communication from Lakefront Productions, the company which is working with “Happy Madison” Adam Sandlers’ production company on the movie “Grown Ups”. This went out to all the neighbors around the lake. You can click it and select “all sizes” for the full size version to read how they will be handling boat traffic and the use of fireworks at different times during the summer.
This swim platform is new to the lake right in front of the Lake House where the scenes are being shot. I’m not sure if it will be part of the movie or just a place for the actors/crew to goof off, but look for it when the movie comes out.

The Mrs got out on the lake to get you, our faithful Good Morning Gloucester readers the inside skinny and photos from the set!
This may look like it’s been on Chebacco Lake forever but in fact it was built to look old and rustic for the Adam Sandler film currently being shot in Essex Ma at Chebacco Lake. More photos from the set to come.
When the movie comes out next summer look for these locations- you saw them here first!
I had a couple of friends of the blog ask for information about the Adam Sandler movie which stars David Spade, Chris Rock, Salma Hayek, Rob Schneider, Kevin James, Maria Bello, Colin Quinn and others and is shooting on Cape Ann.
The name of the film is Grown Ups and it is scheduled for release in March of 2010. There’s a ton of info about the movie if you click the above link.
