Gloucester from Robert Bliss

Sea breezes sweep over Cape Ann with the fragrance of salt air inspiring fishermen and artists alike and all those wishing to live near the vast expanse of the North Atlantic.

Beauty is all around us. Crashing surf on the Back Shore, seagulls squawking, aerial combatants teaching their young how to fly. A harbor protecting boats of every description from the wrath of Nor’easters and ocean storms. Long sandy pristine beaches, Dogtown untouched filled with magnificent rocks and graceful trees. Then there is the Annisquam River meandering through from Ipswich Bay to the Harbor filled with wildlife above and below the swift current of tidal change.

A place filled with caring people, neighbors always willing to lend a hand. So many remembered for their courage.  We’re all living on the same rock cohesive as we can be.

Annisquam Village Church Beach Cleanup

From The One Hour at a Time Gang post on Good Morning Gloucester:

I just learned about your beach cleanups from a church member. We were discussing a Beach Cleanup and Gathering that the Interfaith Group of the Cape Ann Climate Coalition will be holding on Earth Day – Friday, April 22nd.  Here is a description:

Gather at noon at Good Harbor Beach to hold up gratitude for the Earth that sustains us, to hold space for grief due to the effects of climate change on people and eco-systems, and to nurture hope for positive action together.  The gathering will be preceded by an optional beach clean-up at 11:15—bring gloves if you have them.  For more information, contact the Rev. Sue Koehler-Arseneault at capeannrevsue@gmail.com or the Rev. Lise Hldebrandt at lise@stjohnsgloucester.org.  Please join us!

Thanks for the good work you are doing! Please feel free to share this announcement with anyone you know who might be interested.

Sawyer Free Library's avatarCape Ann Community

Join the Cape Ann Museumand the Sawyer Free Library this Saturday, April 2nd for an afternoon of painting and poetry.

At 1:00 pm,Patrick Doud will give a presentation at the Cape Ann Museum at its Downtown Campus, located at 27 Pleasant Street, in conjunction with Cape Ann Modern on the paintings of Thorpe Feidt.

Drawing on multivalent influences including poetry, jazz, fiction and alchemical intuition/lore, Feidt’s praxis results in numinously powerful paintings in which oppositional forces birth new energies.

Then at 2:30 pm, head to Sawyer Free Library, located at 2 Dale Avenue, for an afternoon of readings by local poets Nadine Boughton, the author of the recently self-published book “In the Lap of the Night,” Jay Featherstone, the author of…

Gloucester Biotechnology Academy Open House

Hi Joey:

I hope you are doing well!

I am hoping the you might be able to run a notice in Good Morning Gloucester about our Open House on Tuesday, April 5th, from 3 pm – 5 pm, at the Gloucester Biotechnology Academy, 55 Blackburn Center. This is open to the public. We invite individuals interested in applying to our 10-month, hands-on certificate program to come for a visit, meet our instructors, check out our classrooms and laboratories. This is a great opportunity to learn more about the program, which entails 7 months of training in Gloucester, followed by a 3-month paid industry internship at a leading life science or biotech firm on the North Shore, in Boston or Cambridge. Come learn how this opportunity for recent high school graduates can change your life and help you launch a career in the thriving biotech industry. Generous financial aid is available to all who qualify and our graduates go on to fields including cancer research, pharmaceutical discovery, biomanufacturing, and more.

Please let me know if you need any additional information. Thanks so much, Joey, for your help getting the word out there –

My best,

Chris
