My View of Life on the Dock

Decks are often a favorite of any abode. We all cherish the months we can linger outdoors and watch the sun fall from the sky while sipping our cold beverages. We rejoice when the weather warms up enough for us to open the windows and venture out. The days get longer, warmer and the world becomes a little brighter.

Our daughter was visiting last week with our grandson and I wanted to introduce her to the wonder that is Tonno Gloucester. I was a little hesitant to take a toddler there but I needn’t have wasted that energy. The staff was welcoming and accommodating and our little Schooner clearly enjoyed himself and his food. I had Chicken Milanese and Amy ordered the Sunday Sauce. Perfect and delicious, as always. Thank you our server Sarah for her excellent care and special attention to the baby. Now it’s a favorite for them too!

Large-scape paintings on view: April 30 to July 3, 2022

In time for spring, the Cape Ann Museum will proudly host an exhibit of the vibrant, large scale works of Judi Rotenberg. Life-long Rockport summer resident and highly-respected gallery owner, Rotenberg has spent 40 years creating vivid, colorful floral still life paintings that capture the fragility and strength of life. Her works will be on view from April 30 to July 3 at the Museum at 27 Pleasant St., in Gloucester.
Working primarily in acrylic, Rotenberg’s recent paintings are unabashedly beautiful, alive with color and motion. Each composition is vibrant and fresh and represents a new challenge for her. Sunrise…

FOB Susan LaRosa shared her pictures of the almost full moon rising over the harbor this week. Lovely! Thanks for sharing the beauty Susan. Happy Easter all.

What’s it like here today? A bright and chilly Sunday, about 39°, meant hats and warmer coats for daybreak walkers. Gig rowers were pulling a fast clip in the harbor. Shorebirds and tracks were absent from the beach. Seagulls and robins were in the streets thanks to a night of heavy rains flooding out earthworms.

Let’s go Celtics! Celtics Easter pops from Nichols

We have the company of my daughter Amy and our grandson Schooner (our nickname for him) this week which has been delightful. Amy works as an educator at the zoo in her hometown so a trip to the zoo with them seemed a natural choice. The drive to Franklin Park Zoo took maybe an hour so it’s definitely do-able. Though it was a little rainy that day, our luck took a turn when we were told it was opening day for their new outdoor gorilla exhibit! The family was out and about seemingly showing off.
The Zoo is a great take for families and children. Some exhibits are not yet open as they are waiting for a warm-up, but we were easily able to entertain ourselves for quite a while. I bought tickets online ahead and it was very convenient. Link here. I would put it on the consideration list for vacation activities. No, Amy will not be available as a tour guide……..
