Gloucester Fire Department Shares Information on 2022 Municipal Firefighter Exam
| Chief Eric Smith would like to encourage individuals who are interested in pursuing a career with the Gloucester Fire Department to apply for the 2022 Municipal Firefighter written examination. |
| The exam is meant to establish an eligible list from which to fill firefighter vacancies in civil service cities and towns in Massachusetts. |
| The exam is scheduled to begin on Oct. 24, with an application deadline of Aug. 30. A late fee will be assessed to those who file their applications later than the Aug. 30 deadline. |
| Interested candidates can apply online here. |
| To be eligible to take the exam, applicants must be at least 19 years of age on or before Oct. 24, 2022. |
| Written exams will be held at various sites across the state, and there is an examination fee of $75. Following the written test, candidates will receive a notice to appear for an Entry-Level Physical Ability Test. |
| Several 2022 Municipal Firefighter Exam & Career Information Sessions are being held across the state by the Department of Fire Services. Details on those events can be found here. Applicants can also find Firefighter Preparation Guides on the state’s website. |

The state’s sales tax holiday for 2022 will be held on Saturday, August 13, and Sunday, August 14. On these two days, Massachusetts shoppers do not have to pay the state’s 6.25% sales tax on most goods less than $2,500.

The Fishermen Cup
There is still a little bit of time to register for the Fishermen Cup! The GHS Fishermen Street Hockey Tournament is on Saturday, August 20th beginning at 9:00 am at Talbot Rink. Teams consisting of 1st + 2nd graders, 3rd + 4th graders, 5th + 6th graders, 7th-9th graders, and 10th-12th graders are welcome to enter. Teams should consist of 4 players, 1 goalie, and one sub. No more than six players per team. See contact and registration information below!
