My View of Life on the Dock

A few photos for those of you from away that might be missing Fiesta. It is off to a great start!

Here’s some of the activity we observed in our backyard here in Magnolia. It’s a neverending tale of shenanigans and nature at work. I was especially interested in the nuzzling/licking behavior of the deer. I had not observed this before and found it fascinating although they seemed to accuse me of being a bit of a Peeping Tom.

Thank you to everyone who joined us for our birthday breakfast and panel discussion to celebrate our second year in our new location. It wouldn’t be a celebration without great company, impactful discussions, and a ‘happy birthday’ song from our Early Learning Program. Special shout out to our Executive Director Erina McWilliam-Lopez and our wonderful panel, Elaine McKechnie, Gerald MacKillop, Glen MacLeod, Jack Meany, Tim Flaherty, George Lieser and Chris Lovasco, who shared how the Y and the Gloucester community has impacted their lives and the lives of their families. In just two years, the new Cape Ann Y celebrates more than 11,000 members, nearly $1 million in financial assistance provided so everyone has access to the Y, and more than 400 children learning the life saving skill of swimming through our swim lesson program. With more fitness opportunities, an outdoor splash pad for families, summer camp, early education programming…

Spring Finale…

Hi Joey,
A Press Release:
I created a Poster to celebrate the 400th Anniversary of Gloucester, MA. It would be great if this is appears in time for Fiesta in color. I thought it would be fun to create a colorful image to celebrate Gloucester. Initially, I created a Linoleum Block Print. which I had Cape Ann Giclee make into a Poster. The image includes the iconic Gloucester Town Hall, the Seagulls, Our Lady of Good Voyage, St. Peter, A Schooner, representing The Schooner Festival , the local Schooners and the fishing vessels in general, the fish and the Ocean. You can find these Posters at the local
Businesses: Pop Gallery, Art & Antiques and Alexandras Bakery on Main Street. Also, you can find the Poster at Gloucester Stage and The Building Center Gift Shop. In one of the images that I am sending
I am wearing a dress from Pop Gallery.
Thank you,
Elizabeth Harty
Cape Ann Artist

If anyone wants to carry an oar in the Sunday Fiesta procession we will be gathering at the Oak to Ember restaurant on Rogers Street. It is adjacent to St. Peter’s park. White top if possible but not required. Try to be there no later than 11 if possible. My number is 508-284-9461 for more information. Parents are always welcome to walk along with us to help out. Come be a part of a Fiesta tradition!

Thanks to a tip from FOB Susan LaRosa, I was able to hustle down to the Fort in enough time to catch this spectacular show. Four of our schooners were together out on the water maneuvering around each other as if on the playground at recess: Adventure, Ardelle, Isabella and Thomas E. Lannon. What a wonderful sight! Looking forward to a great season ahead as well as the Rendezvous event at Maritime July 6-9!!
