Taking A Break In West Gloucester

As you probably know, I have been following this eagle pair for a while now, but hadn’t seen them together in a while. Turns out they have been busy raising a family nearby. On this recent morning, they were taking a break.

Two Cape Ann lifeguards went on to become AST Rescue Swimmers in the Coast Guard. Cayden Grooms stationed Sitka Alaska and Graham Lott stationed Washington Port Angeles. “They’re Always From Gloucester!”

JAZZ QUARTET with Joe Mulholland and Stan Strickland and colleagues:

Exciting Jazz Quartet with popular Windhover alum and Berklee School of Music composer and teacher Joe Mulholland. He will be joined by multi-instrumentalist and singer Stan Strickland, along with jazz bass player John Lockwood and drummer Bob Tamagni.

Joe Mulholland Quartet with Stan Strickland is delighted to perform at Windhover Center for the Performing Arts in Rockport on Sunday June 30th, at 4 p.m. on Windhover’s outdoor stage. Tickets are $25 and can be purchased in advance at https://windhover.org/event/joe-mulholland-and-stan-strickland/

Here are short bios on the four musicians:

Stan Strickland is a unique multi-instrumentalist/vocalist/movement artist who has toured nationally and internationally. Mixing jazz along with Latin and African influences, Stan plays both tenor and soprano sax and flute, along with horn. And say something about his voice too.

Joe Mulholland is a pianist, accompanist, jazz composer and arranger with a large discography and long history in the Boston-area jazz and popular music scene. Joe loves to play hard swinging jazz, gentle bossa nova, funky R’n’B and blues, and the entire Great American Songbook catalog from the 30’s to the 70’s. Expect to hear a little of each at this concert. Joe has been performing at Windhover for over four decades!

John Lockwood is a highly regarded jazz bassist who has toured internationally for 50 years and recorded on dozens of albums by the best performers in the jazz idiom. Quite simply, the perfect bass player.

Bob Tamagni is a passionate, highly musical drummer renowned for his sensitivity, drive and joy of musical expression. He does not hit the drums, he plays them! Bob and Joe have played together in different groups for over 25 years, so the rhythmic connection is deeply intuitive.

This incredibly talented quartet will lift your spirits and inspire you with their interaction and creativity. It is jazz for everyone! Wine and sparkling water will be shared to lift your spirits!

Purchase your tickets here: https://windhover.org/event/joe-mulholland-and-stan-strickland/ Or go onto the Windhover.org website under the tab: “Performances “and follow the link.
