My View of Life on the Dock

August Abstract…

Little Art Cinema is proud to announce an exclusive screening of Spirit Sensing: Anima of the Quarry, a short film that has been selected for several upcoming international film festivals, as well as a performance by Kyle Browne and Stan Strickland. The film was produced by the Manship Artists Residency and B-Roll FIlms, and directed by Manship Artist and Cape Ann native, Kyle Browne. The film will premiere in Vienna in September, and already has received seven prestigious awards, including “Film Editing” and “Original Score.” Artists Kyle Browne and Stan Strickland, with Jack Davies, the videographer, and Ken Kinna, the film’s editor, are inviting our community to a private, pre-premiere viewing of the film in the screening room of the Little Arts Cinema, located at 19 School St. Rockport, MA, on August 15. After a long year of waiting for the Perseid meteor shower to re-appear, it clearly paid off. I went for the “finger on the shutter-button” approach the other night. I stood still for 2 1/2 hrs. to try and capture a few of the flying fireballs shooting across us over Gloucester. This was the first one, and the best one I managed to capture. I had hundreds of “trigger” practice shots before this one, so I felt ready. Usually it’s a miss, but this one just seemed to happen just in time. It appears on the screen just like it looked to the eye, a big fire filled green flash! I shot this on a Sony EV Z1, with a Sigma 24-70 f2.8 lens. Exposure was set for 2 seconds, so you can imagine the nerves trying to snag a shot. You can see the amazing aurora that was happening that night on the right side as well, taken Aug. 12th, 12:08 am. The medeor is traveling left to right, the green is picked up as the tail.

Thank you Generous Gardners for all you do.
Dear Generous Gardeners Supporters,
We wanted to share our new mailing address at 2 Lexington Avenue, Gloucester, MA. This is not a physical location for Generous Gardeners, but is Susan Kelly’s software company’s address, that we are allowed to use in place of a post office box. Since our inception 14 years ago, Generous Gardeners is an all-volunteer organization with no paid staff or office space. We are volunteer gardeners with the mission of beautification of Gloucester’s public flower gardens. As an organization, we prefer having a street mailing address to accept generous donations that allow us to do our work effectively.
Thank you for your continued support!
