Old movies show pop walking to the factory, lunch pail in hand. When he got home, dad gave the pail to one of the kids to fill with beer at the corner tavern. In our Rockport house the second floor is used for sleeping and to use the bathroom. The kitchen with perishable food and dish washing,
are on the first floor. Because of my mobility challenges, I needed to protect the white rug and safely transport fresh food upstairs and dirty dishes downstairs, so I resurrected my version of the lunch pail. If something spills, it goes into the pail.

So last night we had a few adult beverages and left our rental downtown Naples instead of driving with a buzz on. Dialed up UBER on the cell phone and got home safely. I’ll never understand people who refuse to take cabs or, now, UBER instead of driving drunk.
Here’s our sweet UBER car that picked us up this morning to go retrieve the rental car-
But anyway I took a video of my screen on my cell phone which shows exactly how it works and why seeing exactly where your car is and the type of car that’s picking you up and your driver’s UBER rating is so cool.
Watch the video of how it all works here-

ON-SALE ALERT: Tickets just went on sale for John Cafferty & the Beaver Brown Band with special guest Charlie Farren

Most of you who follow us know that we present concerts just down the road at Beverly’s Larcom Theatre (among other venues).
This summer we’ll also be presenting concerts at The Cabot — and the first one we’ve put on sale is John Cafferty & the Beaver Brown Band with special guest Charlie Farren on Friday, July 31 — and it’s helping us answer two questions at once: “When are you bringing John Cafferty back?” and “When are you bringing Charlie Farren back?”
We figured this summer was the perfect time to party at The Cabot with these 2 high-energy rock stars, who haven’t performed together on stage for years.
It’s an All Ages show with reserved seats starting at only $25. Get your tickets now (RIGHT HERE) because this show will sell quickly!

Mad Hot Ball Photos From Martin Del Vecchio
Martin writes-
Sunday was the 10th annual Mad Hot Ball. For the past three months, every 5th-grader in the city learned ballroom dancing techniques at school. On Sunday they demonstrated their steps to a packed GHS field house, and competed for prizes in a variety of dance styles.

Congratulations Hannah Kimberley, Cape Ann League of Women Voter’s Newly Elected President!
Christy Park, Joan Kimberley, and Hannah Kimberley
This morning election of officers for the Cape Ann League of Women Voters took place at their annual meeting, held at the Gloucester Maritime Heritage Center. The 2015-2016 officers are as follows: Hannah Kimberly, president; Joan Kimberley, vice-president; Kathryn Lorden, secretary; and June Michaels is the treasurer.
I had the pleasure, along with Essex County beekeeper Kati Vandi, to present programs to the League on how to help the pollinators in our own backyards. Kati is a certified beekeeper and teaches classes to both children and adults at Mass Audubon. She gave a great talk about the significance of bees to our ecosystem and the importance of not using pesticides and herbicides. Kati highly recommends both books she is holding up in the photos. The program was organized by Kathy Lorden and Hannah Kimberley.

At today’s meeting, the League voted to conduct an ambitious study on ocean rise, including researching such topics as FEMA insurance rules, FEMA storm maps, locating vulnerable Cape Ann public and private infrastructure, and learning more about what is being done in other communities and states.
