Hey Joey
Definitely News worthy….. very few days with seas under 9 feet… and some over 30ft!!! You ever try to take a crap in that kind of weather! Holy Sh…!
A family of four with 2 (courageous) teenagers, 16 and 17, daughter and son, got out of class for the Summer of 2015, and in less than an hour later they were boarding their family sailboat on the way to Europe with 3 good friends… has just docked in the Azores. The trip well was a rough one but they made it safely! A Proud Capt and crew indeed!
Please see their blog
For those who have not been following their daily progress and blog, I am happy to report that Tioga and crew have landed in the Azores
The below link gives their report on landing and can also be used to go back and read previous entries and comments.

Despite Torrential Rain, NSMC Cancer Walk a Success!
A Good Day for Ducks, Fund Raising and Lots of Enthusiasm! Sunday’s weather brought torrential rain, but it didn’t keep participants from walking at the 25th Anniversary North Shore Medical Center’s Cancer Walk. Over 2,000 people walked in the midst of the storm.

Most people planned ahead and prepared for the rain …,
Seeking Shelter From the Rain.
… but a few were caught out in the cold in just shorts and a tee-shirt. One lucky dog was able to snag a poncho and find shelter under a table.
Congratulations to all the walkers! Some were walking for themselves, others in memory and in honor of loved ones. One woman told me after she, “I lost 50 pounds to get in shape for the walk,” and was “walking in memory of her father.” He must be so proud! One thing…

Sunday Afternoons are Getting Real Again at the new Blue Collar Lobster Co.
Many of you probably know by now that there is great new outdoor seating and a new restaurant area at the Gloucester House. Named the Blue Collar Lobster Co., this new establishment stands to be a lot of fun on Sunday afternoons. Think old school…like waaaay back to 1991ish.
Thatcher and I stopped by quickly today to take some pics and to grab a bite to eat.
Two crab races, two rounds of corn hole, one virgin pina colada, one margarita, a hotdog, and some great reggae songs later, we left thinking, “We’ll definitely have to go back with the rest of the family and some friends next week!”

We have lost our small gray poodle. His name is Little Guy, (LG) His hair is cut to look like a mohawk.
We let him outside to go to our backyard and he took off. He is not wearing a collar.
We are on Marshfield St. in West Gloucester. If anyone finds him please contact us. 978-283-9759.
Thank you Joey for your help with this. LG belongs to my mother who is visiting from PA.
Thanks again,
Eric Christensen

The Friday July 10 GAAC meeting, 8:00 at the Lanesville Community Center, will feature astrophotographer extraordinaire Phil Orbanes with “Springtime for Galaxies,” an expansive, colorful look at the island universes all around us, unspeakably large and far away but connected directly and materially to us by the light they radiate.
Galaxies, in their number and distance from us, test the limits of our understanding, but there they are nonetheless.
Phil’s presentation features a spectacular, lavishly illustrated look at 36 galaxies, alone, and in pairs and groups, culled from the areas between the Big Dipper and Virgo. Each galaxy, like our own, shines with the light of hundreds of billions of stars.
Phil will also be giving away, to one lucky person, a new copy of James Geach’s wonderful book “Galaxy,” and there will be a consolation drawing as well. We’re not going to tell you the prize; you’ll have to come in and take your chances. There’s big fun here folks, goodies to eat, great conversation, and an enlightening presentation on a stunning subject.
GAAC meets on the second Friday of the month at 8:00 pm at the Lanesville Community Center, 8 Vulcan Street in the Lanesville neighborhood of Gloucester. GAAC is always free, no dues, fees or costs. Plenty of free parking.
More information on the club is available at http://gaac.us, on Facebook at http://www.facebook.com/GAACpage, and on twitter, @GAACster.

Get Your Skateboard On!: Live Blogging With Two Pretty Excellent Local Companies in Rockport!
The boys were psyched to stumble upon this action right now! On the corner of Marmion Way and Richard’s Ave in Rockport, two local companies are joining forces for an afternoon of skateboarding fun.
Pulp and Fizz a local label that produces independently made music and who has a fantastic mission for doing good and helping artists thrive, and whom follows the motto “thoughtful provisions for living a life full of love, color and music” AND RESTOKE (forgive me for not knowing how to make that R backwards!!) “a lifestyle apparel brand created to inspire the pursuit to relive the stoke and NEVER STOP!” are currently setting up some pretty cool obstacle courses for boarders to tackle.
I look forward to doing a longer blog post to do these two great companies justice later on…
In the meantime, if you’re in the area…get on down there!
Rockport Bonfire Aftermath

NORTH GREETS SOUTH! NORTH SHORE ARTS ASSOCIATION HOSTS A SPECIAL REGIONAL COMING TOGETHER OF ACCLAIMED ARTISTS FROM BOSTON’S NORTH AND SOUTH SHORE COMMUNITIES.
AT THE INVITATION OF THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF THE NORTH SHORE ARTS ASSOCIATION, artists from communities south of Boston mixed and mingled with NSAA members in a full day of plein air painting on Tuesday, June 23rd.
Seventy artists, many of whom are nationally and internationally known, painted en plein air at six private property locations on Rocky Neck opened only to them for this special event, and at the harbor side grounds of the historic North Shore Arts Association overlooking East Gloucester’s sparkling Smith Cove. The artists stimulated and inspired each other’s work forming new and lasting collegial relationships that will enhance the already formidable reputation of the eastern Massachusetts art community, and add to our region’s creative economy. Coordinators of the enormously successful event were North Shore: artist, Judythe Evans Meagher, jemeagher@comcast.net; South Shore: artist, Nancy Colella, saltydogstudio@comcast.net
The North Shore Arts Association’s galleries are open, free to the public, Monday through Saturday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday, Noon to 5 p.m.
More information on all North Shore Arts Association events is available by visiting their website at www.nsarts.org, and by email at arts@nsarts.org, or by telephone 978 283-1857.

July 4 Pool Test – Fail!
It was fun to get away to a 4th of July cookout. I wanted to do a float test on myself, but it was so cold that I could only stick my toes into the pool’s water. I don’t how the kids do it! My hostess showed off her patio tomatoes, but, like mine, are getting big with no color yet. It will be hot enough ripening next week.
Our (Boston) annual Independence Day music and fireworks on the Charles River was the best I’ve seen. All from the comfort of my bed!
