(51A Rocky Neck Ave. between the Studio Restaurant and Gallery 53). Brian is hosting public reception on both evenings from 5 to 8pm.

Bird Mancini and T Max return to help raise money for the Cultural Center at Rocky Neck by performing an entire night of wonderful songs made famous by The Beatles. Within the hits and their personal favorites, expect a lot of three-part harmony, familiar riffs, and the unforgettable melodies that have lived in our hearts and minds since The Beatles 1964 invasion. Tickets available in advance at www.rockyneckartcolony.org – programs – music.
Boston’s Bird Mancini is a cosmopolitan fusion of blues-tinged rock, Latin-flavored bossa nova, country-folk balladry, and woolly psychedelia, with lush vocals, guitar, accordion, and a variety of percussion, bells and whistles. In recent years they’ve toured the West Coast and performed for the International Pop Overthrow Festival in Boston, NYC, and The Cavern Club in Liverpool, England.
Critically acclaimed and ASCAP/Boston Music Award nominees, Bird Mancini were twice named among the Top 10 Year’s Best by Metronome Magazine. They’ve opened for Leon Russell, David Crosby, Joan Osborne, Gregg Allman, Jonathan Edwards, The Stompers, The Outlaws and others.
The duo features Ruby Bird-vocals, accordion, melodica, harmonica, percussion; Billy Carl Mancini-vocals and guitar.
New England-based, T Max is a man of many hats (literally and figuratively). He’s the singer/ songwriter/ storyteller who has run The Noise (New England’s longest running music magazine) for 34 years. He also founded Boston Rock Opera (produced and acted in Jesus Christ Supertar), wrote two folk-rock operas, released nine solo albums, produced Boston Rock ‘n’ Roll Trading Cards, was the music director for Project Eno (a tribute to Brian Eno), lectured on marketing music media at Emerson College, was a fine artist in wood, is an art photographer, graphic artists, and to show that he’s not just interested in fields of art, he placed 4th in the US Open in 1988 (playing chess). New England music legend Willie “Loco” Alexander says, “T Max is a man from another century, like Ben Franklin or Ian Whitcomb, a man of a thousand voices (and hats). His music runs the gamut of standards to scat—creating songs from the lost jukeboxes of time. Amen.”

Gloucester’s Layce Alves 7th Win!
Tremendous race and tremendously fun for we watching the race. The most enjoyable was seeing the families cheer on their loved ones. I didn’t photograph the men’s and women’s winners Dan Chruniak and Layce Alves crossing the finish line as I was filming them. This was Layce Alves 7th 5k win! For complete coverage of the race, see today’s Gloucester Daily Times.
Jon and Alexandra’s son Owen Hardy came in second place!
Buscaino – Francis Family came out to see their 67 year old Dad, Michael B. run his first ever 5k!
Loved watching these Dads, I wonder if they had a runner in the race?

Nearly 300 entries to name the Cape Ann Reads gull flew in to the Cape Ann libraries, to partners like Cape Ann Museum, GMG comments, and social media. Some names were repeated. Thank you to everyone who sent in an entry. Here’s a word cloud from Sawyer Free Library that illustrates the frequency.
Every month Cape Ann Reads features exceptional programs. Check them out!
You can buy a t-shirt featuring Gulliver, the endearing Cape Ann Reads logo. We can thank Asley Curcuru through the Hive for the endearing gull.

And hula hoops?! Thank you Garrett Coler, Sports and Recreation Director at the Cape Ann YMCA, for giving Good Morning Gloucester the scoop on the details. Sounds like something will be going on for all ages! From Garrett:
I’ll be heading down to the beach after work today with my camera in tow to see if I can get lucky and grab a few action shots. Until then here’s a look back of the past few years’ captures.

They call me Girl here and I am one big love bug! I arrived in rescue with a litter of pups (you may remember the “breakfast club” that was here a little while ago) and now that they are all grown and off in homes of their own it is my turn at love.
I am an extremely affectionate lady and just adore every human I meet. Are you good at belly rubs? When you first meet me you will soon realize I LOVE belly rubs and will instantly roll over on my back for one when I see my human.
I am a pretty mellow girl. I enjoy my walks outside but I would much rather be curled up on the couch with you! My calmness has been good for me during my recovery from recent heartworm treatment. I am still recovering and will need to take things slow for a little while longer. This means I am considered a special needs adoption. I can go for leash walks, snuggle and enjoy everyday but I am not supposed to do any jogging, wrestling with other pooches or any other real cardio workout for another month or so.
It is hard to keep a good gal down so my spirits are still up! Do you think we might be a match? Come on in! Please visit our website and check out all of the cats and dogs available at the Christopher Cutler Rich Animal Shelter. http://www.capeannanimalaid.org
A whole lot of spinning was going on. Funny….ever since riding the Twirling Strawberries at the Topsfield Fair 7.5 years ago and feeling violently ill from the spinning….only to discover two days later that I was pregnant with Finn… I haven’t been able to handle spinning. Roller Coasters…no problem. Spinning, twirling, twisting kiddie rides. Shoot me.
First Time I’ve Seen One Of These In Action. It went along at a pretty good clip and very stable-
