My View of Life on the Dock
Wedding planning and travel has taken up most of my time the last few weeks so I’ll have to settle on these stolen moments of peace with my iphone. Happy Monday all!!

At first there was just one….at some point there were obviously two….so now there are three. Three turkeys living in the center of the Blackburn Circle.
It used to make me so sad to see the female turkey walking around day after day in the brown desolate grass in the center of the busy rotary. I assumed she was injured….and for a while she went unseen during my commutes back and forth to Beverly.
Then, low and behold, I saw her again….and this time she was followed closely by a couple of poults. Cute little baby turkeys.
So now, it would seem, all three of them live at Blackburn Circle. Do they stay there all day and night? What an odd place to decide to live.

Our lobsterman Mike Tufts catches a rare orange#lobster. If we didn’t shoot the video to show it moving and alive you’d think it was cooked. He returned it to the sea once he let us shoot the video.

In honor of International Coastal Clean Up Day, Gloucester’s Ainsley Smith led a team of volunteers to clean along the Annisquam River. Ainsley shares the following:
“We had about a dozen volunteers on foot, kayak and in small boats take place in our river clean up in honor of International Coastal Clean Up Day. We filled 9 bags of trash with the usual: foam cups, cigarette butts, snack wrappers, plastic and ziplock bags, as well as a buoy, a broom, a raft, a boot, work gloves, pieces of rope, gear, and fishing line. Many thanks to our volunteers who joined us despite the foggy start, we hope to make the river clean up an annual tradition!”

Please join myself and the cast, director, and author of Gloucester Stage Company’s current show “Flight of the Monarch” for a Talk Back on Sunday September 17th. The Talk Backs are fun and interesting events held during a show’s run where audiences are invited to ask questions of the players. In attendance will be Jeff Ziinn, the director; Jim Frangione, the playwright; Nancy Carroll, the lead actress who plays Shelia Callaghan; and Tucker Smith, the lead actor who plays Thomas Callaghan. I have been asked to join to answer any questions folks may have about Monarch butterflies and this year’s migration. The Talk Back is at 4:00pm and will be held in the theatre. Anyone is welcome to come, whether or not you have seen the show, so please do come!
