When the temperature is 2 degrees and the ocean water was 46 degrees, the sea smoke forms. It is awesome.

A little sea smoke and ice to start our day. Sorry for anyone having to work outside today….brrrrrr!!!!

As my car dashboard read 19 degrees and my dogs could only handle a 15 minute walk before their paws got too cold, I drove by these guys working on a roof in Rockport. Yikes! Kudos to them!

The foundation has helped many local organizations such as: Cape Ann Art Haven, City of Gloucester Committee for the Arts, Cape Ann Museum, Cape Ann YMCA, Rocky Neck, Cape Ann Reads, Cape Ann Symphony, Gloucester Stage, and many more.
From the Boston Foundation outreach by Carmen Savarino:
“We are pleased to announce the 2018 Request for Proposals for the Bruce J. Anderson Foundation, a supporting organization of the Boston Foundation. The Bruce J. Anderson Foundation has been making grants on Cape Ann and the communities of Harvard, Ayer, Groton, Pepperell, Shirley and Townsend for over 30 years. Please review the guidelines carefully and note that the application deadline is Monday, February 5, 2018. Please note that this year all applications will be submitted online.
Grant decisions will be made in mid-June and announcements will be made at the end of June. This year we will be hosting an informational webinar session on Tuesday, January 9th. Those interested in attending can join us to hear about the Bruce J. Anderson Foundation’s grantmaking priorities and to answer any questions you may have. Questions regarding program eligibility can be directed to my attention at carmen.savarino@tbf.org or (617) 338-2676″

“Heart-wrenching. As unflinching as it is beautiful.” – The New York Times
SeniorCare Inc. presents Mimi & Dona, on Tuesday, January 9, 2018 at 7:30 p.m. at the Cape Ann Cinema, 21 Main Street in Gloucester, MA. The film will be followed by a discussion and cocktail hour with light appetizers. This presentation is sponsored by The Residence at Riverbend with additional support from Tufts Health Plan Foundation.
What happens when love runs out of time? For a 92-year-old mother, Mimi, who has cared 64 years for Dona, a daughter who has an intellectual disability, it means facing the inevitable—the likelihood that she will not outlive her daughter and the need to find her daughter a new home.
This poignant, heartbreaking and, at times, humorous documentary traces this process through the story of a quirky and deeply connected mother-daughter duo. The film spotlights the challenges of aging caregivers…

With tremendous thanks to Heidi Dallin, creator, producer, and director of the fabulous “Holiday Delights.” Every year “Holiday Delights” charms the community with the talented cast of actors from Heidi’s Gloucester Stage Youth Acting Workshop. Thank you to Lisa Smith for sharing the video with the community. Special shout out given by Heidi to the show’s sponsors: Cape Ann Savings Bank, Bank Gloucester, New England BioLabs, David Robinson, Daniel Lee, and Anonymous donors.
While the rest of Gloucester Crossing has been full and pretty busy, this space on the end next to Marshalls has been unoccupied for as long as I can remember.
What would you put there if you had the choice?
