Ribbon Cutting at Found Objects now inside the Brass Monkey. Formerly in Manchester, Jennifer Falconer brings her unique collection for home and garden to Gloucester. Come in and check it out this weekend.





Thursday’s Gloucester Daily Times reported that Second Glance will be hosting a special event this weekend to showcase vintage treasures that have been donated. The shelves will be cleared and re-stocked with special vintage items; there will also be music and food. This sounds like a great time and I encourage you to check it out. Open at 2 Pond Road today, Saturday, from 9-7 and tomorrow, Sunday, from 11-5.

The Boston-based Scollins-Young jazz duo will be at Feather & Wedge this Sunday, June 3rd from 10:30 to 2:30 PM. With Kevin Scollins on guitar and Benjamin Young on double bass, this accomplished duo plays jazz favorites, blues, R&B and more.

June is World Elder Abuse Awareness Month and June 15, 2018, is World Elder Abuse Awareness Day. SeniorCare Inc. and several non-profit and civic organizations are holding special events throughout the North Shore to increase awareness of this growing issue in our society.
10,000 people turn 65 in the US every day. That trend is going to continue for the next 20 years. Our demographics are shifting, and we will soon have more elder people in the US than ever before. At the same time that the population is growing, we know that a startling number of elders face abusive situations. Every year an estimated 5 million, or 1 in 10, older Americans are victims of elder abuse, neglect, or exploitation. And that’s only part of the picture: Experts believe that for every case of elder abuse or neglect reported, as many as 23.5 cases go unreported.

Interested in learning how to sail or need to refresh your skills? Would you like to learn about racing? Just want to get out on the crystal clear water of Sandy Bay? Founded in 1885, SBYC is an active sailing club with weekly races throughout the summer. Our sailing program provides basic through advanced training for adults with semi-private lessons on a flexible schedule. Sandy Bay also has an active social program. Its easy to join and membership is surprisingly affordable.
Join us on Friday, June 8th, from 6-7:30pm for an informal evening of appetizers and drinks at Sandy Bay’s historic clubhouse – located at the end of T-WHARF in ROCKPORT. Meet the fleet captains, race committee, sailing instructors, and everyone involved in SBYC’s Adult Sailing Programs.
