Marion Hall One-Artist Show

November 9 – 21, 2019
Opening Reception: Saturday, November 9th, 2 – 4 PM

An exhibition of watercolor paintings by Manchester-by-the-Sea artist Marion Hall will open in the Marguerite Pearson Room of the Rockport Art Association & Museum (RAA&M) on Saturday, November 9th with an artist’s reception from 2 – 4 PM. The exhibition will be on view Saturday, November 9 – Thursday, November 21.

“The focus of this solo show is marine subjects with original watercolor paintings of Cape Ann shores, seascapes, lighthouses, beach scenes, sand dunes, sea birds, the breaking surf, schooners, dories, and even a few Cayo Costa State Park, Florida beach scenes. My style is a blend of realism and impressionism, with a very colorful palette and ‘Cape Ann School’ lighting, expressing happy emotions and quiet moods that are easy to read.”   – Marion Hall

Marion Hall has been a resident of Manchester-by-the-Sea for more than 50 years. A graduate of Tufts University and Northeastern University with degrees in Physical Therapy, Marion was commissioned in the Navy and after graduation was stationed at Chelsea Naval Hospital working with casualties from the Vietnam War. After her service, she was Chief Physical Therapist at Beverly Hospital. Following graduate school, Marion raised a family of three children and concurrently consulted for community health organizations and the public school systems, specializing in childhood development and senior care.

After her career in health care, Marion started taking workshops with local watercolorists and began a second career as an artist. She is an artist member of the Rockport Art Association & Museum, North Shore Arts Association, the New England Watercolor Society, and the Sanibel-Captiva Art League. Marion teaches at the Art Room in Topsfield and leads workshops for the Sanibel-Captiva Conservation Foundation. She is currently Co-Vice President of the Board of the North Shore Arts Association.

You probably heard last week that the Fed reduced the benchmark lending rate by .25%.  This is something that we expected and I had prepared my clients to be ready to jump when rates dropped.  Why did I want them to jump?  Thirty year mortgage rates are not tied to the Fed benchmark rates, but more to the 10 year treasuries.  The 10 year moves in line with the stock market, and that has been at record highs recently.  When the stock market goes up, generally the yield on 10 year treasuries generally go up.  That means mortgage rates go up.  However, when the Fed reduces…
