The Schooner Adventure, adorned with lights showing her magnificent silhouette, awaited the fireworks display. As a few fireworks sent up alerting the start of show lit up the sky, they captured her brilliance. Soon after, this grand 100 year old beauty turned off her lights to enjoy the spectacular show. In this image, you can also see the Ardelle (far left), and I believe the Lewis H. Story over to the (far right) with Stage Fort ablaze.

Late afternoon on Wednesday took a walk to the beach. Shore Road’s view was very peaceful. Considering there was rip current warnings early in the week, the ocean was still and flat.

I was lucky enough to get a preview of the beautiful and compelling new exhibit that pays homage to David Hockney through the lens of his dear friend, local artist Bing McGilvray.
Thanks to Bing, visitors can view a remarkable collection of artifacts: sketches, multi-page faxes that constitute a larger portrait, museum posters and an enormous Taschen art book that all feature Hockney’s vividly colorful, engaging artwork.
You are warmly invited to explore this luminous show and its accompanying events! Bravo to Bing and his team at Manship.

We spent a lot of time downtown over the weekend killing time between sails and events. Minglewood on Rogers St. provided the perfect respite. The nachos are outstanding. Highly recommended. Thanks Zach and Minglewood staff for consistently good service and food options.

There will be food and music, some short words of gratitude and reflection to mark the occasion, and a general good time to be had by all. The event is open to the public so please come with whomever you like. We want people from all walks of life to know that a space and strong community of recovery exists in Gloucester, and that our doors are open to them. Also, there will be laughter… and food!

They did this once before, in 1992, when families handed over more than 600 photos that had never left their homes. This time it’s a full century of Fiesta, with the Cape Ann Museum as the partner, up while the whole city is in the street.
Your grandmother could be on that wall.
CAM will scan whatever you bring, for free, and your originals go home with you the same day.
The procession, the greasy pole, the Blessing of the Fleet, the altar, the carnival, your family standing around on Fiesta weekend. Blurry ones count.
Most photos like these leave a family when a house finally gets cleaned out. Better they end up on a wall first.
Two ways in:
