Reaching New Heights at Good Harbor Beach

So I guess this is called kitesurfing or kiteboarding. Whatever it is called, it’s pretty cool to watch the rider soar into the air on a windy day at the beach. I wanted to call this post “Getting High on Good Harbor Beach” but I thought it might be misconstrued……. Not sure how that woman apparently on her phone wasn’t gobsmacked as I would have been with this guy kind of soaring overhead…..

Captain Vito’s Fresh Seafood: New Business on Washington Street downtown #GloucesterMA

A new business has opened downtown during the Covid-19 pandemic.

Captain Vito’s Fresh Seafood opened on 53 Washington Street in Gloucester, Massachusetts, utterly transforming the space formerly held by wonderful Giovanni’s barbershop (and tailor shop at the back). Sclafani’s Italian bakery is located next door.

‘Absolute Secret 2020’ continues thru Election Day November 3rd @ Jane Deering Gallery . 19 Pleasant Street . Gloucester MA

Absolute Secret 2020
What’s this all about?

Since early 2018, the gallery has been providing exhibition space to area artists. They pay no rent and receive help with promotion and publicity. Artists find it a rewarding experience and I believe it’s important for the area. It fosters growth in the arts and offers new visions to our community.

But these are challenging times.  To continue providing this space to artists, I asked the many national and international artists I’ve worked with over the years to donate a small work, which is now offered to you for $20.

Here’s a chance for you to find a little gem for a song while supporting the gallery’s mission. Works are signed on the back — an Absolute Secret until you’ve bought the work, turned it over, and discovered the artist.

The gallery is grateful to the many artists who enthusiastically donated a work to this cause.

Gloucester wins another!

America in Bloom chose Gloucester for a second award: Outstanding Achievement in Community Involvement! This award was given to acknowledge the ongoing commitment of the Generous Gardeners volunteers to maintain over 45 public spaces to beautify our city. Congratulations again Gloucester!

 is feeling blessed at

Magnolia Community Farmers Market

Our team of planners would like to offer heartfelt thanks to our sponsors, our vendors, our photographer, and most importantly, you, our shoppers. The Magnolia Community Farmers Market would not be possible without the support of the wonderful community around us. When Covid19 offered up a host of unsurmountable obstacles for our 2020 summer season, the community embraced what seemed at first like a daunting task. What evolved was an amazing plan to feed our neighbors in a safe and easy way and we could not be more proud of what we accomplished! We sincerely thank you all for your support and your commerce this summer and we cannot wait to see you all in the spring, hopefully back on Lexington in the sun where we belong.

“A Case of the Mondays”

Check out this awesome photo posted by Pelagic Gear on their Instagram page. It credits photographer Al McGlashan with capturing the moment a giant mako shark attacks a blue marlin that was in the midst of being released boat-side. Yikes. Tough break for the blue marlin….easy meal for the mako….probably quite a scare for the crew.
