The last Block Party sponsored by the Greater Cape Ann Chamber of Commerce is next Friday (yes, FRIDAY) Aug 29 from 6-10 PM. Yours truly and Joey will be there outside the shop at 44 Main St so please stop by and say hello.

Main Street is the place to be on Friday, August 29, from 6–10 PM, for the final Gloucester Block Party of 2025!

We’re closing out summer with a night full of music, food, shopping, and fun for all ages—right in the heart of downtown.

This isn’t just any Block Party—it’s the kickoff to Labor Day Weekend and Schooner Festival! That means more energy, more excitement, and the perfect start to a weekend packed with Cape Ann magic.

Saw this yacht in Gloucester Harbor on Wednesday. The dingy on the stern of the boat is bigger than most boats.

The 51m/167’4″ motor yacht ‘Double Haven’ was built by Feadship in the Netherlands at their Aalsmeer shipyard. Her interior is styled by design house Glade Johnson Design and she was completed in 1993. This luxury vessel’s exterior design is the work of Glade Johnson Design and she was last refitted in 2024.

Double Haven has been designed to comfortably accommodate up to 12 guests in 6 suites. She is also capable of carrying up to 16 crew onboard to ensure a relaxed luxury yacht experience.

Her features include a spa, sauna, deck jacuzzi, WiFi and air conditioning.

Range & Performance

Double Haven is built with a steel hull and aluminum superstructure, with teak decks. Powered by twin diesel Caterpillar (3512 DITA) 1,430hp engines, she comfortably cruises at 10 knots, reaches a maximum speed of 16 knots with a range of up to 7,644 nautical miles from her 127,950 litre fuel tanks at 10 knots. Her water tanks store around 37,750 Litres of fresh water. She was built to Lloyds Register classification society rules.

This Week at The Cut!

Wednesday we’ve got Trivia in the restaurant! Free to play. Prizes include show tickets and Little Sister gift cards!

Thursday it’s our Third Thursday (music) Therapy FREE show with Line’s End! If you haven’t had a chance to check out how incredible to venue portion of The Cut is yet, this is the perfect opportunity! Doors are at 6pm. Show is at 7pm. There are some seats available, first come, first serve.

Friday Robert Ellis Orrall returns to The Cut stage for a night of stories and songs from his EPIC career. If you’re interested in the music industry, or just love good storytelling and music, this one is for you! Plus Fun Bucket will be throwing an afterparty, so stay and dance! This show was SO good last year, so don’t miss your chance to see it this time around! There are still some tickets available. Doors are at 6:30pm. Show is at 7:30pm.
We’ll also have live music in the restaurant starting at 8pm. No Cover.

Saturday it’s a double header. First a night of comedy with Tom Cotter, Christopher Robinson, and Tim McKeever. Doors at 6:30pm. Show at 7pm. There are still tickets available.
THEN
Come dance to pop hits and hip-hop from the 90s and 00s, plus current party anthems at our End of Summer Jam. This is a FREE DJ Dance Party with DJ Snackzilla & DJ Deirdre Dagata! Party kicks off at 9:30pm. 21+.

Sunday we have a collab between The Cut & Little Sister with South African music AND food! Come enjoy a special menu in the restaurant, and then enjoy Bokani Dyer back in the venue. Doors at 7pm. Show at 7:30pm. There are still tickets available.

As always, Little Sister will be serving their Best of The North Shore award-winning burgers (and so much more) starting at 5pm each night. Come early and grab food before the show or stay late and refuel after dancing! They offer a late-night menu on Friday and Saturday nights.

Active morning for the lobstermen preparing to move traps out of harms way ahead of the potential Nor’easter.

The lobsters have been in close to shore but if you leave your traps there when a coastal storm comes you can lose a lot of traps in a couple of days of heavy surf
