What is the role of the artist when when faced with the climate crisis? This webinar produced by the Cape Ann Coalition’s Climate Arts Group explores the artist’s role. It begins by celebrates the life and vision of the late Rockport artist and environmental activist Elaine MacGray Starrett with a video “Without Just Grounds”, featuring Elaine reflecting on her “deep concern for the protection of open space and natural resources” and the series of paintings that she created in response to her concerns. Following the screening, Starrett’s daughter, Dr. Amy Bower, an oceanographer at the Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution, is joined in a lively conversation about art, science and climate change, with Cape Ann environmental 3-D artist Sinikka Nogelo and the nationally-known public artist Mags Harries.

Sugar Moon over City Hall
After a long day of work, a quick stop for a phenomenal Good Morning Gloucester burger at Beauport’s 1606 and then the evening sports shuffle, I was on the go from 7:00 am to 9:15 last night. When I saw how beautiful the moon looked rising over City Hall I wanted to go for a ride and capture it, but decided to head home instead. So, I was happy to look out my bedroom window and see, in the distance, both the moon and City Hall.

Great Dinner at Fox Creek Tavern
We rode over to High Street in Ipswich to have dinner at the Fox Creek Tavern, which has become one of our favorite spots. It was a quiet dinner hour there and Michael was our server (great job Michael!). The atmosphere is cozy and friendly, seating appropriately distanced, varied menu choices are available. They always have very interesting drink and entree specials available.
I chose a margarita with cherries added….BOY was that good! Nice and tart just the way I prefer. Our friend manager Cecilia and I are going to have a conversation about that wonderful cocktail!!! Jim ordered fried pickles and I had French Onion soup prior to our meal. The cilantro lemon chicken tacos were a FANTASTIC blend of flavors and textures. I believe it was listed as a new menu item. Jim had the Reuben sandwich. We were very happy with our meals once again. Fox Creek Tavern has not failed us once! Highly recommended, well worth the ride.
