Stop/Look #2 is part of the 6th annual Rocky Neck Now members show from the Rocky Neck Art Colony (RNAC). Reflecting the lives of RNAC artists over the last year, Stop/Look is online only (www.RNACExhibitions.com), but it’s so big in spirit it’s actually two shows.
Rocky Neck Art Colony members made sure the year of Covid was a year of artistic achievement. Meredith Anderson, Gloucester-based graphic designer and artist, designed the show. Anderson organized the show into categories, much as she did with the Stop/Look #1 show.
Stop/Look #2 features the work of 39 artists. There is a wide variety of work, including Abstract (Save the Animals, by Terry Del Percio-Piemonte, and Homage to Diebenkorn No 17, by Otto Laske), Sculpture & Craft (Sheltering in Partners, by Jenny Rangan), and, finally, Into Nature (Backshore Alley, by Nancy LeGendre; Fall Foliage, by Raymond Magnan, and Winter Wind by Rebecca Nagle. Materials are as varied as the artwork, from oil painting to ink jet photography, watercolor to digital, ceramic to mixed media.

It’s Opening Day! Alex Cora is back at the helm, we are looking at a full season of baseball, a hopeful post season, and fans are back in the seats….well, at least some of the seats.
Last year’s Opening Day took place on July 24th….so beginning the season on April 1st is already good start. We also kicked off last season playing the Orioles..as we will today. Let’s hope that is the last of the similarities.
I, for one, can’t wait to get back to Fenway Park!
Turn on the lights!

We stood to watch the fog roll around the harbor one day recently and got all these pictures within an hour or so! Quickly changing conditions but the boats are still at work like the Allison-Carol, USCG, Orion, Karoline Marie, and Nicole Jean.

We are a small but mighty group of committed people who love what we do, and have fun while we work hard. Our mission is to cultivate healthy, connected, environmentally sustainable communities and to fight for food justice by teaching people how to grow their own food. We serve public school children and low- to moderate-income residents in Gloucester, and share our program models regionally through a consulting practice to increase our impact. Our goals are to increase access to healthy, affordable foods, mobilize attitude and behavior changes around healthy food choices, reactivate neglected urban spaces through food production, and build community and support self-sufficiency within diverse populations. Red barn….

As you know, we have been watching a pair of eagles in our backyard in Magnolia spending time in a nest nearby. We had been hoping they were going to make it their home, but it’s getting a little late in the nesting season and our hopes are fading. They still come by and sit very prettily for visiting photographers. I heard from one recently who shared a much better shot of “our” eagle than I’ve gotten in their nest. He gave me permission to share, but didn’t want a name credited. I appreciate the sentiments and LOVE the photo! Thank you, generous photographer! Isn’t it wonderful?
