“This grant is a departure from the type of projects that GEF normally funds in our schools,” said Aria McElhenny, GEF’s Executive Director, “but this year has been anything but normal, and thanks to our generous community, GEF can be flexible and step up to provide this one-time support where it is needed most. Were saddened to report that the mother swan of the adorable Esplanade swan family passed away last night in her nest. We want to thank @animalboston for safely removing her from the swan’s nest while the father swan sat at the nest with their cygnets tucked under his wings.

Sharing information from the Mayor’s office to clarify some information regarding Gloucester Resident stickers and Beach Stickers for the 2021 season. From Facebook:
Our office has been getting lots of calls, texts and social media posts regarding a news article which has shared incorrect information on beach/resident stickers. If you have already purchased a Gloucester Beach Sticker, you DO NOT need a new, separate resident sticker. Please contact your Ward Councilor or City Clerk’s office regarding which streets are affected and how to acquire a resident sticker if needed, but a beach sticker will also serve as a resident sticker. Thank you and happy summer!

Voting is on for the mural space on Elm Street. See Joey’s post here to VOTE for the 2nd exterior mural (Elm Street)

Here is a selection of some of the exterior public art murals in Gloucester. Depending upon your device, double click or pinch and zoom to enlarge and/or right click to see the credit details. On mine there is an option to select “view full size”. Indoor murals include masterworks from Gloucester’s public art collection (for example see its major WPA-era New Deal murals).

In case you need a smile. I have been hatching ducks and they are beyond adorable. Please enjoy this little video of then happily splashing in a super shallow pan of warm water at just 2-3 days old. We have 14 of them and I swear they each have their very own personality! Click on post to see the video.

You cannot help but wonder about so much in this scene on Main Street yesterday. I’ve never really thought much about how packaging is packaged. Or how this can be controlled once opened. My forecast calls for imminent showers….of pink foam peanuts…..
