Gloucester Education Foundation Grant Supports GHS Class of 2021 Celebrations
GLOUCESTER , MASS. – Gloucester Education Foundation has made a gift of $7,500 to the GHS class of 2021 to support the production costs of Senior Award Night, Senior Prom and Graduation.
“This grant is a departure from the type of projects that GEF normally funds in our schools,” said Aria McElhenny, GEF’s Executive Director, “but this year has been anything but normal, and thanks to our generous community, GEF can be flexible and step up to provide this one-time support where it is needed most. We’re so proud of these kids and the remarkable resilience and strength they’ve shown this past year. They deserve to be celebrated.”
Due to COVID-19 restrictions in the schools this year, opportunities for students to fundraise were limited. According to Dan Fleury, GHS Senior class advisor, the students’ best efforts fell short:
“They raised 2/3 of their goal, but still faced a shortfall. GEF’s…

Clarification Regarding Beach and Resident Stickers
Sharing information from the Mayor’s office to clarify some information regarding Gloucester Resident stickers and Beach Stickers for the 2021 season. From Facebook:
Our office has been getting lots of calls, texts and social media posts regarding a news article which has shared incorrect information on beach/resident stickers. If you have already purchased a Gloucester Beach Sticker, you DO NOT need a new, separate resident sticker. Please contact your Ward Councilor or City Clerk’s office regarding which streets are affected and how to acquire a resident sticker if needed, but a beach sticker will also serve as a resident sticker. Thank you and happy summer!

Back on Lexington Ave, where we belong, the Farmers Market will be open weekly from 10am-1pm (closed the holiday weekends of July 4 and Labor Day).
Safety is still of our utmost concern. With state and local guidance lifted for outdoor venues, we will strive to make each market open and comfortable for outdoor shopping. Our Vendors’ and Farmers’ booths will be spread evenly down the street to make for ample space for distancing. Hand sanitizer will be available throughout the market as well. Masks will no longer be required, though we ask everyone to practice kindness and caution to keep each other safe.

In Case You Need a Smile
In case you need a smile. I have been hatching ducks and they are beyond adorable. Please enjoy this little video of then happily splashing in a super shallow pan of warm water at just 2-3 days old. We have 14 of them and I swear they each have their very own personality! Click on post to see the video.

Pink Packaging Parked on Main Street

You cannot help but wonder about so much in this scene on Main Street yesterday. I’ve never really thought much about how packaging is packaged. Or how this can be controlled once opened. My forecast calls for imminent showers….of pink foam peanuts…..
