A Big Thank You for the Captains Courageous Festival

I’d like to thank everyone who participated in the Captains Courageous Festival this year. We had 12 venues offer their lovely locations for the over 50 events for folks to choose from. (We may have actually overdone it with too much being offered!) All the presenters volunteered their services which are a testimonial to the wonderful and talented folks we have here in Gloucester! In addition, I need to thank our sponsors: Varian Semiconductor Equipment Assoc. Inc.,  Nor ‘east Cleaners, First National Bank of Ipswich, Gorton’s Seafoods, Jalepenos, Steve Willard, Dogtown Book Shop, Sonolite Plastics Corporation, and Thai Choice Restaurant for making the creation of the festival website possible.

GeorgesDisplay

Hi Joey,
I am teaming up with my friends at George’s Coffee Shop to promote Breast Cancer Awareness month and raise funds for the Breast Cancer 3 Day walk (60 miles for a CURE). I am selling Wine Lights and handmade awareness bracelets during the month of October. Dean and I have a friend, Peter Devereaux, who is battling this disease. Most of us know someone who has been impacted by breast cancer. All proceeds benefit breast cancer research and awareness through the Breast Cancer 3 Day walks.
It would be great if you could share this information on GMG! Stop by for a delicious breakfast and support a great cause this October!! And remember to check the girls this month!!
Thank you,

Wayback Machine – Who Remembers Rocky Neck Steak and Lobster House?

This is Dan and Robin Smith from Missouri.  They stopped into the gallery and we got talking.  In 1975 when Dan was 20 years old, he and his buddy, Rick Good, waited tables at the Rocky Neck Steak and Lobster House.  It was owned by Mr. Gledhill and was located where the Madfish Grille is now.  Dan says he still has his Rocky Neck Steak and Lobster House T-shirt!  They stayed at the old Rockaway Hotel when they first arrived until they got situated, and he said most everyone who worked at the restaurant stayed at The Accommodations.  Dan became a sailor due to his experience of a summer in Gloucester in 1975, and he still returns here regularly.   Now he’ll hopefully become a subscriber to Good Morning Gloucester too.

Hi!  My name is Ringo and I am an eleven-month-old male Spaniel, Retrieve mix.
I am staying at the Cape Ann Animal Aid, located at the Christopher Cutler Rich Animal Shelter, Four Paws Lane in Gloucester until I am adopted.  I am sweet, smart and looking for an active family who likes to walk.  Once I have an active day, I am looking forward to relaxing in the evening with my family and a family you know, can be one person, plus me!
Stop by the Cape Ann Animal Aid, and you can visit us on-line at CapeAnnAnimalAid.com and see all the cats and dogs who deserve loving home.  I hope you will stop by and visit me soon.  The nice volunteer here told me she thinks I am handsome – I got so embarrassed – but I told her I think it is true, too!!

Photoshop Memory

Photoshop Memory

If I should grow old and dim of eye

with my memory shrouded in mist,

one sight I’d remember is the Annisquam Light

and I’d  hope to see it like this.

The sky and the water perhaps bluer than true,

the boulders, a rich golden glow;

the textured ripples sculpt’d by the tide

’cause my photoshop helped keep it so.
