This Week at The Cut!

 ~ THE CUT LIVE ~

It’s another great week at The Cut! If flying to Vegas to see Dead and Company at The Sphere isn’t in the budget, no worries! We’ve got Dead to the Core right here in Gloucester, and The Cut, just like The Sphere, has an incredible sound system and an amazing view of the stage from anywhere in the house! There are still some tickets available. And as long as we don’t sell out, we’ll be selling them at the door as well.

Little Sister has been such a hit that we’ve talked them into staying on a little longer! Come on down and grab some of their DELICIOUS food. Ordering is done via QR code and you get a text when your food is ready. Quick. Easy. No need to figure out splitting the check. While you wait, grab a drink from the bar and be sure to check out our new arcade games, or play a round of pool!

The Cape Ann Power Yoga event on Sunday is SOLD OUT. But Little Sister will be serving lunch (with a taco special!) from 12-3pm.

Reminder that we’re currently ONLY open when there’s a show/event on the schedule. BUT, you do not need tickets to the show/event to come hang and grab some food.

Zoo Adventure

We went to Rhode Island recently on a day trip (very do-able) and made the Roger Williams Park Zoo one of our stops. We try to visit as many zoos as we can and the reciprocal memberships that are part of New England Zoo membership really pay off. We got tickets at 50% off since we showed our New England Zoo card. It was the middle of April vacation week so the Providence zoo was buzzing with families enjoying a beautiful spring day. As our daughter works for the Erie PA zoo, we keep a special eye out so we can report our observances to her. The Roger Williams Park zoo is very nice: family friendly, lots of clear signage, pathways generous. The living areas of the animals seems very appropriate to allow visitors and animals alike some freedom. Here are some photos. More story details and photos available on Facebook at Pat D’s Photos and Adventures. Give it a follow if interested!

GLOUCESTER, Mass. (April 2025) – On May 3, Cape Ann Museum welcomes the public to Flourishing Blooms with C.B. Fisk, Homage to Cape Ann Blossoms, a version of the beloved annual Cape Ann Blossoms event. Ten floral designers from the North Shore through their eye-catching arrangements will bring to life the current exhibition on view, Breath of Life – C.B. Fisk, Designers and Builders of Pipe Organs

With the Museum’s Downtown campus closed for renovations, this event will be held from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Janet & William Ellery James Center at the Museum’s CAM Green campus (13 Poplar Street, Gloucester), which is free and open to the public.

Flourishing Blooms with C.B. Fisk is a tribute to the Museum’s annual Cape Ann Blossoms event that spotlights the strong connections between art and the natural world,” says Oliver Barker, Director of Cape Ann Museum. “Visitors can expect to see glorious floral arrangements paired with the pipe organ design process and creation, highlighting a mix of art, nature and music all in one show.”

Breath of Life – C.B. Fisk, Designers and Builders of Pipe Organs explores the work of Gloucester-based C. B. Fisk Organ company from development from a modest workshop to an industry-leading designer and builder of pipe organs, now installed all over the globe. The show highlights a selection of Fisk’s projects using scale models, photographs, and carvings, providing floral artists with a wide range of creativity for their arrangements.

The Cape Ann Museum, founded in 1875, exists to preserve and celebrate the history and culture of the area and to keep it relevant to today’s audiences. Spanning 44,000 square feet, the Museum’s Downtown campus, which is closed for renovations through spring 2026, remains a major cultural institution on Boston’s North Shore that has welcomed thousands of local, national, and international visitors annually to its exhibitions, programs and community led events. In addition to fine art, the Museum’s collections include decorative art, textiles, artifacts from the fisheries and granite industries, four historic structures, a Library & Archives and a sculpture garden in the heart of downtown Gloucester.

The Cape Ann Museum Green (CAM Green), the Museum’s campus off Grant Circle and Route 128 in Gloucester is home to the 12,000 square foot Janet & William Ellery James Center, built in 2020 which includes a flexible exhibition and community programming space designed to reach broader audiences with new exhibits and public programs. CAM Green also features three historic structures: the White Ellery House (1710), the Babson-Alling House (c.1740), an adjacent Barn (c.1740), a Contemporary Art Wetu (2023-2024) and a Mush8n (mi-shoon) (2023), an eastern woodlands boat.

🎆 Hey Cape Ann! Ready toLight Up the Sky and Your Community? 🎆

Our friend Brian Wall, CPA, just fired the starting shot in the Fireworks Fundraising Competition with a generous $100 pledge! He challenges every other CPA Firm in Gloucester to match his pledge. 💰🔥

Now it’s YOUR turn!

We’re calling on all local businesses — Contractors, Bankers, Electricians, Hair Salons, Restaurants, Bars, Landscapers, Liquor Stores, Nail Salons, Spas, Lawyers, and more — to join the challenge. Who will be the first in your category to make the first pledge? Then you will challenge others in your profession to follow suit.

Our goal is to have 500 businesses donate $100 each. Seems like an easy goal to reach to continue on with this year’s old tradition of fireworks on the 3rd of July.

💥 It’s easy – Only comment to PLEDGE and call out another individual in a business profession, and or owner.
(All others will be deleted to avoid confusion)
1️⃣ Pledge $100
2️⃣ Name your next challenger!
3️⃣ Help us keep Cape Ann’s fireworks tradition shining bright!

Lobsta Land Lunch

We stopped by Lobsta Land on Causeway St for lunch shortly after they reopened for the 2025 season. As always, we were greeted in a friendly manner, seated in the bar area as requested and served by Shawn with efficiency and expertise. The deck was open but I wanted to be inside that day. I tried the Cajun Black and Bleu burger and Jim had the Cuban sandwich. We enjoyed our meals as we observed the “neighborhood” bar atmosphere where everyone seems to know your name. Welcome back Lobsta Land! We’ll return soon.
