It was particularly pretty on Rocky Neck the morning after the storm. Carry on Rocky Neck!

Feb. 25, 2026. Long Beach walkers 9:56AM. Whiteout by 10:01.

Blizzard 2026 local aftermath:
At Stop & Shop on Thatcher Road, grocery shopping is temporarily limited to the aisles at this time and feels surreal. After losing power–yes, they have a generator–this storm is no joke and its extreme impact a first for long time employees. Refrigerator trucks had to be brought in. All fresh outer loop shelves were cleared ASAP.

The day after the blizzard was crazily beautiful with sunshine and snow covered trees everywhere. For those of you who aren’t “on island” here’s a little bit of what it looked and sounded like. For additional photos check out Pat D’s Photos and Adventures on Facebook.

Storm Day…

Good morning Joey:
I wonder if you can help me find someone from Gloucester that I knew back in 1975. I met Jack O’Hanley when he and his then wife Kathy Schubeck and I went to work for the Trustees of Reservations at the Cornelius & Mine Crane Wildlife Refuge in Ipswich / Essex. I was appointed as the “resident ranger” and Kathy was the naturalist. Jack and Kathy would come to Hog (aka -Choate) Island every weekend and stay at the residence where I lived for five months. What a summer we had. Jack was such a character and cooked up a storm. He loved his beer, and the brand I cannot recall.
I hope you can shed some light on my quest, afterall, it’s only been 50 years………….
Best Regards, Neil Courtney, Camden Maine
