Hi Joe,
We have a Relay for life team called Re-lei for a Cure. We have been planning a Harvest Craft & Kids Fair for Oct 17th at the Fuller School from 9 to 3. If you have space in GoodMorning Gloucester, can you post it to let people know about it ? We have almost 50 crafters from all over renting tables, there will be food and games for the kids. All proceeds from table rentals, food, raffles and kids games will be donated to the American Cancer Society. We are hoping to get alot of traffic with the opening of Gloucester Crossing. You can contact Melanie Wall at 978-317-5942 or myself, Paula Bertolino at 508-284-6088. Alot of work is going into this from just a few people so we are hoping it will be a big success.
We hope to hear from you,
Paula Bertolino
This print will be on display at the First National Bank of Ipswich for the month of October. If you are interested in purchasing this or other prints I will be exhibiting at the bank, please let me know. A special 10% discount for GMG’ers!

Melinda left Gloucester yesterday to drive back cross country to Seattle making stops along the way with her Irish companion whose name escapes me (I get a pass on forgetting her name as she called me Bob a couple times).
Here she poses with a couple of her pieces made from actual sails. When speaking with Melinda she told me how helpful and supportive Freida Grotjahn from Again and Again had been during her stay as well as Bob Ritchie from Dogtown Book Store.

Marty Luster came to town last weekend with son and FOB Brian Luster from A Movable Bridge
Marty is a serious photographer from upstate New York. We got to hang out at the dory raffle and then the next morning when I brought the boys to George’s for breakfast. When Brain and Marty stopped down the dock they got a treat because Jay Albert was here so they got to talk photography and blogging while I worked, lol.
So anyway when we went to breakfast we got to talking about Marty’s photography and I told him to be sure to send me a link to his pictures that he took of Gloucester once he gets home and has time to upload them.
You never know what people are going to take pictures of when they are here. There’s so many pretty things and industrial things, you just never know what perspective someone takes when they are from out of town and what they see through the lens.
Marty sent me the link to his Gloucester photos and he sent it to Jay also. Jay said something to me yesterday about Marty that was dead on- That Marty captured the essence of Gloucester as a working port. True dat.
Here’s a video in which folks from the Mass Film Office used a bunch of pictures from GMG for their commercial. It would have been nice had they asked to use them but still cool to be in it.
There are scenes from the Essex set of Grown Ups with Adam Sandler along with The Proposal. You can see the GMG pics I took last summer at 1minute 24 seconds in.

Last night the Dory Raffle was held at The Maritime Heritage Center. The International Dory Rowers Organization is full of very committed and friendly people who volunteer time and energy to continuing this great Gloucester tradition.
One of the best things about this group is their commitment to bringing regular folks who might otherwise not have any real connection or financial way to get out on Gloucester Harbor a way to really feel connected to it.
I know I’ve said it a million times but for a measly $50 you get to use the boats all year long. It’s the best bang for your buck in the the whole city.
Katherine Richmond conceived the idea to have an authentic handline dory built and to sell raffle tickets which would help pay for some of the costs to keep this tradition alive. Geno Mondello donated his time to build the dory.
A FOB, Brian the creator of the Brooklyn Blog A Movable Bridge drove all the way from Brooklyn yesterday to be on hand for the raffle in which he was sure he was going to win.
Great Gloucester People Doing Great Gloucester Things.
I have about four clips from last night which I’m in the process of uploading.
For now you can check out this video which was taken this past winter of Geno building the dory-
