Beachfront at Cape Ann Motor Inn

You absolutely cannot beat the beachfront location of the Cape Ann Motor Inn at the end of Long Beach. Each room directly faces the ocean and the long expanse of beach….as well as Thacher Island and its twin lights. Hotel guests are treated to their private section of beach and the convenience of being able to run back into your room (several with efficiency kitchens) makes for a perfect day! We just treated ourselves to a two-night stay-cation along with several other friends and their families. It was a wonderful way to kick off summer together! Check out Cape Ann Motor Inn here.

Found Another Sticka’ in Key West

While Finn fished happily by the cruise ship dock in Mallory Square I ran to the Salt Life store and then over to the Hogs Breath Saloon where I can’t believe I was able to find the GMG sticker that was placed there by Joey and the gang a few months ago.

A Little Bit of Home

Finn and I spied a GMG sticker while at B.O.’s Fish Wagon in Key West. Our trip involves way more fishing and far less bar/restaurant hopping….but we wanted to be sure to find at least one of the “stickas” while on the island.

Bocce Ball

I love the boulevard for so many reasons and we should all be super appreciative to those who take such good care of it. One of its treasures are the bocce ball courts! Sunday was both Father’s Day and Finn’s birthday. After breakfast at the Mile Marker we played a few games of bocce and then went out for ice cream.

The New Deck at Lobsta Land

The new deck at Lobsta Land just opened and it’s pretty awesome. We stopped by yesterday afternoon and had some awesome fish tacos on the new deck at a super comfortable table…with a phenomenal view and some live music playing as well. It will definitely be a great spot for the summer!

Mexican Street Corn at Minglewood Harborside

So, the Mexican Street Corn at Minglewood Harborside is one of the yummiest things I’ve had in a while.

Outdoor Seating at Tonno

I had such a nice time sitting at a sidewalk table at Tonno yesterday. We were lucky to score a comfy sofa and chairs at a fire pit table…and also lucky that the rain held off while we were there. We shared a couple of bar bites…the meatballs and calamari….and also a shrimp flatbread pizza along with one yummy cocktail each. I am so appreciative of the hard work that has gone into creating the beautiful outdoor dining spaces in our wonderful city. I can’t wait to see what Main Street looks like as summer is in full swing. You can learn more about Tonno here

Sunset Clouds Over Inner Harbor

Thatcher and I took a quick drive while Finn was watching the Little League game that took place after his….there may or may not have been some Frozen Yogurt ordered from Cafe Bishco ordered that we had to wait for anyway…… The clouds over the inner harbor and their reflection on the water were kind of striking. I’m always sad when my iPhone camera doesn’t do justice.

Sidewalk Serenade

Sidewalk Serenade. This was an unexpected and nice surprise on a really hot afternoon in downtown Gloucester. I’m not sure who he is but he played beautifully. For the record, I asked Thatcher to take the quick video as we drove by.

Lunch at the Seaport Grille

We had a delicious lunch while sitting at the bar (yay!) of the Seaport Grille last weekend.

You can check out the Seaport Grille and its menu here. https://seaportgrillegloucester.com/

In Case You Need a Smile

In case you need a smile. I have been hatching ducks and they are beyond adorable. Please enjoy this little video of then happily splashing in a super shallow pan of warm water at just 2-3 days old. We have 14 of them and I swear they each have their very own personality! Click on post to see the video.

Gloucester’s Rob Foley Assists in the Rescue of Fishermen While En Route to Saipan

Gloucester’s own, Rob Foley, was instrumental in rescuing three fishermen while en route from Yokohama to Saipan earlier this week! Rob Foley is Captain/Master of the container ship APL Saipan. While heading south towards their destination of Saipan the ship was diverted by USCG Sector Guam. They broke course to look for a vessel that was reportedly taking on water. Upon arriving in the area one of Rob’s shipmates was able to spot the sinking boat 9 miles in the distance. Once upon the sinking vessel they worked with other assets to pull three fishermen from what was left of their boat. By that time, only about 5 feet of bow was still above water. They soon learned that the three fishermen had been clinging to their boat for 8 hours….being tossed into the sea throughout the duration of the night by passing seas and swells. The fishermen were brought onboard Rob’s ship where they were offered showers, warm clothes, food, water, and much needed rest. The APL Saipan then continued to their scheduled destination where the rescued fishermen were happily reunited with loved ones.

I love Rob’s comments after the fact. He said, “I could not have been prouder of the way my crew performed in every aspect. Glad to be able to help out others who, like us, choose a life of going to sea.” Rob is my husband’s cousin….and I couldn’t be more proud of him. Nice job, Rob!
