My View of Life on the Dock
We got an early start for a day of fishing yesterday.

We chartered an evening boat cruise last week on the Lady Jillian with Cape Ann Harbor Tours (ALWAYS a great night!) and I picked up some delicious shrimp from Turner’s to share onboard. It was definitely a hit.
Check out Turner’s menu here: https://www.turners-seafood.com/gloucester-market/

We spent part of last night sitting under the Bourne Bridge on the Cape Cod Canal watching the boats go by. Click on the post to see some of the boats.

Pretty much no matter the weather a trip past Brant Point Light is always beautiful

The hydrangeas on Nantucket are always so huge and beautiful

We spent the night in Boston on Sunday after going to the Zac Brown Band Concert at Fenway Park. We had lunch at The Salty Dog, checked into the Bostonian Hotel, went to Cisco Brewery in the Seaport, and then took an Uber over to Kenmore Square for the show. Here is the view that greeted us upon arriving back to our room late at night.

While I’d prefer it be a beach day, I always kind of get a kick out of how happy the seagulls are to have the beach to themselves when the weather keeps everyone else at home. See them all lined up at the water’s edge?

This fishing vessel has its very own “mini me.”

We spent an afternoon hanging out at Jackson Falls in Jackson, NH just outside of Conway the other day. The boys played in the little falls, swam in the small pools, and explored while we enjoyed the gorgeous scenery and relaxed in the sun. While we were up there for a two night camping trip…. I’d do it again for a day trip as well.

I was on an evening trip on Cape Ann Whale Watch a couple of weeks ago and had the awesome opportunity to see humpbacks and dolphins swimming together not far from Rockport harbor and just north of Thacher’s Island.

After Todd Angilly opened the Massachusetts State Little League Championship Tournament at Boudreau Field (an important stop on the road to Williamsport and the Little League World Series) with a beautiful rendition of the National Anthem, GMG Jim had the opportunity to chat with him for a bit. Gloucester Little League was thrilled to be chosen to host this tournament and an army of volunteers has been working hard to ensure that the tournament is a success and that the city of Gloucester is able to shine for the huge crowd of visitors who are expected throughout the weekend. You can view the live stream of the opening ceremonies here as well thanks to Pat and Jim. It was a big honor to have Todd Angilly sing. https://goodmorninggloucester.com/2021/07/29/state-little-league-championship-opening-ceremonies-brought-to-you-by-good-morning-gloucester/

This is up there with the best things I’ve eaten in a restaurant this summer.
goat cheese, aged balsamic, Maldon sea salt, cracked pepper

Don’t forget to come on down to Boudreau Field between July 29th and August 1st to watch some pretty competitive baseball and cheer on the hardworking kids who have hopes of moving further on the road to Williamsport and the Little League World Series. Gloucester organizers, volunteers, and supporters have been working hard as well to pull off a fun and successful tournament …and one that is representative of how great our city is. Let’s help welcome players and families from Middleboro, Needham, Pittsfield, and Peabody!

It seems impossible, but Saturday marked our first full day on the back side of Wingaersheek so far this summer. We took our skiff down the Annisquam and stayed from 10:30-6:30. More than the crowd of boats in this photo….I love the patterns in the sand.

Some young surfers, including my Finn, were warming up before a surfing lesson with TM Sports Training the other day.
“Sports Training for kids + adults; surfing, hockey, mountain biking, soccer, lacrosse, hiking, tennis, skiing… and adventure.”

I was so impressed watching this boy work upon pulling into the dock on what I imagine is his family’s fishing vessel. Salty kid.

Gloucester Little League would like to remind you that Boudreau Field (front of Stage Fort Park along the end of the boulevard), Rogers, and Wilson Field (two fields at the entrance to O’Malley Middle School) are currently off limits to the public as they are being repaired and maintained for the upcoming Massachusetts State Championship. They ask that between now and the end of July that you kindly keep your children and dogs off the fields. They thank you for your understanding and cooperation. Remember to come on down and enjoy the tournament as well!

In the category, Only in Gloucester….. here is a schooner crossing the street…and, on the crosswalk, of course.

It occurred to me when standing on the boulevard yesterday that there are so many things that scream “Gloucester” in this photo. What can you see? I see the bridge up, the boulevard, the flags, the Paint Factory (barely), a yacht docked at Ocean Alliance, a schooner, lots of fog, the harbor, Ten Pound Island, the Beauport Hotel, a dog going for a walk with its owner, Pavilion Beach…
