Who Knows Where This Is?

who knows where this is

While talking with Thom Falzarano the other day, he was saying how much he was enjoying photographing up in New Hampshire where there was rusted old farm equipment and grazing horses to photograph.  Although these are grazing donkeys, not horses (I know my barn animals) – that is a cool old rusted piece of farm equipment, and they are right here in Gloucester.  Does anyone know where?

15Winter hibernation time isn’t here yet and there’s still plenty of fun to be had on Rocky Neck.

Bittersweet

grand finale mug up 2013

We had a wonderful grand finale Mug Up at Khan Studio and the GMG Gallery on Sunday. The weather was perfect, and fun was had by all, from the youngest to the oldest.   As always, there was plenty of good stuff to eat, but the definite showstopper was Sister Felicia’s cranberry orange tort – scrumptous!

It was a little bittersweet.  Season has ended, the gallery is closed, and winter is around the corner.  But don’t fear, there will be more Mug Up fun over the winter as hosts James Eves at Cape Ann Giclee, Fred Bodin, Donna Ardizonni and others take up the mantle and keep the tradition alive through the dark, cold winter months.   Maybe Joey will even have another one at the dock!

GMG cormorant sticker copy

Although I dearly love seagulls, I agree with Al that the cormorant could be a better mascot for GMG.  What do people think?

and P.S. Don’t forget – Grand Finale Last Hurrah Mug Up this Sunday 9:30.

Thinking of Checking out the New Studio Restaurant this Weekend?

Update: Saturday and Sunday open til 11PM for the Sox game!!!

studio2

Then please come over on Friday night from 5:00-10:00pm.  Same great buffet and cash bar as you will find on Saturday or Sunday for only $10, but if you go on Friday, your $10 goes to benefit the Rocky Neck Art Colony and Rocky Neck Cultural Center Building Fund.  Thank you Dennis Dyer for such a generous benefit for RNAC.

So please, come on over to Rocky Neck Friday night, check out the beautiful new Studio Restaurant, and help the Rocky Neck Art Colony in the process.  Then, since the place is so beautiful and the price is so right, come back again on Saturday, Sunday from 2:00-8:00pm.  This will be your only chance to check it out this year.  If you miss it, you will have to wait until next spring.

Nothing Soft about the Soft Opening of The Studio Today

studio opening

A few shots of the amazing soft opening of The Studio Restaurant today on Rocky Neck.  The place is gorgeous.  Dennis Dyer, his contractor and staff have done an amazing job transforming a Rocky Neck landmark and historic site into a first class restaurant experience, and don’t appear to have spared any expense in doing so.  If you missed the soft opening today, you still have another chance before The Studio closes for the season.  Next weekend (Columbus Day weekend), The Studio will be open Friday, Saturday and Sunday from 2:00 – 8:00pm.  It will be buffet style service for a minimal charge of $10, plus cash bar.  If you’re into sports, there are two large screens for your viewing pleasure at the bar.  Even the spruced up empty deck beckons us in anticipation of next year’s summer fun on Rocky Neck.

Breaking News – Porn Star Ron Jeremy at Liquor Locker Now

ron jeremy porn star

Ronald Jeremy Hyatt (born March 12, 1953) known by the stage name Ron Jeremy, is an American adult film actor. Nicknamed “The Hedgehog”,[1] he was ranked by AVN at number one in their “The 50 Top Porn Stars of All Time” list.[4] Jeremy has also appeared in non-pornographic films, such as The Chase, Orgazmo, They Bite, The Boondock Saints, Crank: High Voltage, Poultrygeist: Night of the Chicken Dead, Detroit Rock City and 54.

Jeremy is involved in the marketing of a line of rum “Ron de Jeremy” to which he lent his name, “ron” being Spanish for “rum”. Television ads for the rum, featuring Jeremy himself, proclaim that it’s rum, “Ron Style”‘.  If you were thinking of going to Liquor Locker to pick up something today, you will find a madhouse of woman having parts of their bodies autographed by Jeremy.

I didn’t see this myself, fellow artist Sue Handman just came back from Liquor Locker and gave the report, which I just had to pass on.
