Bought my fourth #@stopandshop #cornedbeef #brisket today. It’s $1.47/lb with Flyer coupon. $2.47 without.
Easiest thing I’ve ever made. Crockpot.
Baby gold potatoes cut in half, a handful of baby carrots half an onion cut up on the bottom of the Crockpot. Then lay the brisket on top of that, add three cups of water, next sprinkle the seasoning packet on top. Close the lid. Set on low for eight hours. Come back in eight hours and plate it up. It’s ready! My daughter’s asked for seconds and thirds!

City of Gloucester Encourages Residents to Sign Up for Smart911 Alerts
https://twitter.com/gloucesterfire/status/1105856852326313986
GLOUCESTER — Mayor Sefatia Romeo Theken, Police Chief John McCarthy, Fire Chief Eric Smith, and Assistant Fire Chief/Emergency Management Director Joe Aiello are encouraging residents to sign up for mobile safety notifications and create a profile through the city’s emergency alert system.
Gloucester Emergency Alerts, powered by Smart911, is the official emergency notification system used by the city to communicate with residents and business owners during a range of emergencies.
Smart911 is a free service that allows residents to sign up online to create a profile that will provide vital information to 911 call takers during an emergency — allowing first responders to make faster and more informed responses. People who live and work in Gloucester can add relevant information to their profile, including the number of people and pets living in a household or working at a business, what those people and pets look like, relevant medical conditions and allergies, and emergency contacts.
The system also allows participants to receive emergency notifications in real time. Emergency alerts are used to notify residents of a variety of situations, including power outages, evacuations, lock down situations, water advisories and road closures.
“I encourage all Gloucester residents to sign up for Smart911 Alerts,” Mayor Theken said. “By utilizing this technology, residents are able to receive important notifications while providing essential information that is needed to best help during an emergency situation. Stay informed. Take advantage of this safety tool and sign up today.”
Gloucester Emergency Alerts also issues advisories to residents for amber alerts, missing person alerts, snow, flooding, traffic, weather warnings and beach alerts.
“This safety alert system could truly save lives, and it only takes a few minutes to sign up online,” Fire Chief Smith said. “Knowing how many people, and pets, live in a household in the event of a fire is a huge help to first responders. Being aware of medical conditions can help us provide the best possible care in an emergency. This system is a great asset to our city’s safety– let’s use it to its full potential.”
Residents can sign up to receive mobile alerts and create a safety profile for their household by clicking here.

Don’t get caught up in your own shadow…March 5 – 28!
Mercury retrograde occurs at two levels. At one level, there is not much you can do with the actions of others, except to be more conscious and prepare for delays and errors by double checking.
But at the personal level you can do a lot in order to avoid the consequences of Mercury Retrograde. Most of us encounter the consequences when we are not centered, aware or conscious of what is going on around us, and more often than not the culprit is that we are not acting from our heart and spirit.
Instead we are reacting from our needs, our hurts, from our buttons being pushed, or the way that we take care of others and not ourselves. In that way we act from our shadow, and that is what mercury retrograde is all about.

The Orchestra on the Hill Chamber Ensemble performs ‘Bach and Beyond’ in the historic Gloucester Meetinghouse
‘Bach and Beyond’ will take you on a musical journey around and through the genius of Johann Sebastian Bach.
In the first half, soak in the serene exultation of Trumpet Concerto No. 2 by Tomaso Giovani Albinoni to gain an understanding of why this popular composer was so intriguing to Bach. Next, venture onward to Bach’s vibrantly fast-paced Orchestral Suite No. 2 with haunting melodies for the flute. Then hold on your seat for Bach’s powerful Prelude and Fugue (“the Wedge”) in E minor for organ solo played by Jeffrey Mead on the mighty 1893 Hutchings-Fisk pipe organ.
In the second half you will meander forward in time to Mozart’s exquisite Clarinet and String Quintet, in which Bach’s influence runs through like a golden thread. And finally we return to Bach for his glorious and brilliant Brandenburg Concerto No. 2, a musical challenge for the whole ensemble including harpsichord and…

Improve your brain function by Dancing?? Try Nia before you forget!
Can you dance your way to better brain function?
The answer is YES! A recent study from the Department of Human Development and Family Studies, Molecular, Cellular and Integrative Neurosciences, Colorado State University headed by Dr. Aga Burzynska shows that dancing increases white matter in the brain. Think of white matter as well insulated wiring in an engine. The more white matter you have, the better your brain conducts electrical activity, hence better brain function.
Check out this short video on the study. In the text of the video is a link to the full study. You may want to wait till you have had a few weeks of dancing before you tackle the complicated scientific literature.
Not dancing you say? Not sure you can dance? Need a class that can ease you into movement? Well you are in luck. Nia is a great way to do just that!
