Dredging Announcement – Gloucester – November 8^th

The Baker-Polito Administration will join Mayor Sefatia Romeo Theken, members of the US Coast Guard and Army Corps of Engineers, and other state and local leaders to announce a substantial Massachusetts Dredging Program award for the Annisquam River Dredging Project. The award supports a federal maintenance dredging project, and will improve safety and accessibility for boats including lobster and commercial fishing vessels.

I tested my laptop’s onboard webcam from home yesterday in an area of our house that has not-great wifi.  The results were decent (see the resulting stream below) but I concluded that if I used the laptop plugged into the router instead of relying on the wifi connection that the results would be way better.  So now I’m at the dock and I ran speed tests on my ethernet wired PC, my new iPhone and my old LG V20 android phone.

The internet speed test results between my wired desktop and untethered wifi cellphones were very similar which I find odd.

Ethernet connected PC download speed 30.05/ Upload 5.85

Iphone over wifi download speed 29.4 upload 5.75

Android Phone LG V20 over wifi download speed 28.57/ upload 5.96

In the live streaming test I did last night on the wifi Microsoft Surface Laptop 2 the quality of the stream was decent even though it was rerecorded in a part of the house where the internet is spotty.

I don’t want to spend money for the sake of spending money but I want to try a higher quality webcam connected directly to the ethernet on my PC and see if that gets much better results and eliminate the pixelation.  In theory it should but now after doing the speed tests showing my cellphone and wired ethernet connection are practically the same, I’m unsure if there’s going to be a noticeable difference.

Every year we love seeing all the folks from Gloucester & surrounding areas coming and picking up great deals on Skis, Skates and Snowboards. Breaking Election News:

An old timer comes down the dock this morning and i ask him if he voted yet.

He replies that he’s not voting and this guy is a guy that doesn’t go a half hour without talking politics.

I told him and this is for the record that if one of the candidates that we consider to be terrible gets elected by a one vote margin that I will never ever let him forget it.

So here it is, the reminder.  You could get stuck with someone that you can’t stand as a candidate.  if voter turnout is low and that person gets in by one vote and does things that you are diametrically opposed to, you have no one to blame but yourself.
