ACTION INC.’S NURSE AIDE TRAINING PROGRAM KICKS OFF IN MARCH
The program will provide free training for 12 Cape Ann residents
This spring, Action Inc. will host its latest Nurse Aide Training Program for eligible Cape Ann residents who are interested in pursuing a career in the healthcare field. The program will help 12 local students access clinical skills and obtain state certification.
Classes are offered in the evening and will take place at the Timothy L. Riley Education & Training Center, located at Action Inc. on Main Street in downtown Gloucester. The downtown location is easily accessible by bus or train.
The program aims to provide classroom and clinical skills to prepare students for the Massachusetts State Nurse Aide Certification Exam, as well as provide career development supports such as resume preparation and job fair participation.
“For many years, healthcare education has been an important component of our career training work,” said Peggy Hegarty-Steck, Action Inc.’s Executive Director. “There is a lot of demand for nurse aides, so graduates are often able to find employment quickly. This is also an excellent first step on the nursing career ladder, with pathways into a lot of different roles.”
With the decline of traditional industries, many Cape Ann residents have struggled to find living-wage employment or meaningful career paths that provide an opportunity for growth and development. Certified Nurse Aides are in high demand throughout Massachusetts, including local hospitals, nursing facilities, and home healthcare agencies here on the North Shore.
“Action Inc. continues to bring positive change to Gloucester and Cape Ann, and the Nursing Aide program is another example of their commitment to the community,” said Gloucester’s Mayor Sefatia Romeo Theken. “This program aims to prepare individuals with the necessary skills to work as vital members of a healthcare delivery team. This offering is a great opportunity that local individuals should consider for a career in the growing medical field.”
Classes will begin in March and wrap up in May. Eligible participants must have a high school diploma or equivalent, a clean criminal background check, be low-to-moderate income and able to provide income verification, and be a resident of Gloucester, Rockport, Manchester, Essex, or Ipswich.
This training is made possible through funding from the City of Gloucester’s Community Development Block Grant Program.
To learn more or to apply for the program, contact Jill at 978-282-1000 ext. 108 or email training@actioninc.org. You can also sign up for more information at http://www.actioninc.org. Space for the program is limited, and interested applicants are encouraged to apply as soon as possible.

ACTION INC.’S COMMERCIAL DRIVERS LICENSE TRAINING PROGRAM KICKS OFF IN MARCH
The program will provide free training for 18 Cape Ann residents
With the decline of traditional industries, especially the fishing industry, many Cape Ann residents have struggled to find living-wage employment or meaningful career paths that provide an opportunity for growth and development. CDL drivers are in high demand throughout Massachusetts.
This spring, Action Inc. will host its latest Commercial Driver’s License Training Program for eligible Cape Ann residents who are interested in pursuing a career in the truck driving industry. The program will help 18 local students access classroom training as well as field training to obtain their Class B Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with air brake endorsement. Successful graduates of this program will have the opportunity to obtain their CDL license and become employed with companies that require a CDL license to drive their vehicles.
Classes are offered during the day and will take place at the Timothy L. Riley Education & Training Center, located at Action Inc. on Main Street in downtown Gloucester. The downtown location is easily accessible by bus or train. Hands-on behind-the-wheel field training will take place at New England Tractor Trailer School in North Haverhill, MA. Action Inc. will provide transportation to and from New England Tractor Trailer School.
The program aims to provide training to prepare students for the Massachusetts CDL Class B written exam and road test. The program also provides career development supports such as resume preparation and assistance with reaching out to local employers. Action Inc. is proud to be working alongside New England Tractor Trailer School to provide the best education possible for students.
Eligible participants must have a high school diploma or equivalent, an up to date driver’s license, a clean criminal background check, and a clean driving record. They must also be able to pass a drug screening and physical examination with the Department of Transportation. Applicants must be low-to-moderate income and able to provide income verification, over 18 years old, and be a resident of Gloucester, Rockport, Manchester, Essex, or Ipswich.
This training is made possible through funding from Sailors’ Snug Harbor of Boston and the City of Gloucester’s Community Development Block Grant Program.

Angel Wings Wellness's avatarCape Ann Wellness

This past year, our family as well as the community of Gloucester lost an incredible addition to our town. Tom Cain was an exceptional father, a loving uncle, and very caring member of Gloucester. To honor his legacy, his family has set up a foundation that will annually award a scholarship to a high school student pursuing a college degree, trade school, or certification program. The tickets are $40.00 each, and the event will take place March 13th at the Cruiseport in Gloucester from 7:30pm -1200am. Tickets are available at our shop on 12 Roger’s street, and the deadline for purchasing one will be February 28th. Thank you in advance to those that will be showing their support.

The tickets will include dinner, and a DJ’d dance party. Additionally, we will be raffling off gifts including but not limited to Celtics tickets, air pods, a photo-shoot with local Bonita Feeney…
