As the page turns on 2021, theย Sawyer Free Libraryย has compiled a list of some of the most popular books checked out this year by adults, teens, and children. Of the thousands of print, digital, and audiobooks that patrons borrowed, these were Gloucesterโs favorites in 2021.ย
Fiction:
Gloucester seemingly read โaround the worldโ when it came to their top Fiction books of 2021.ย
The top book checked out by patrons wasย The Four Windsย by Kristin Hannah, a historical fiction set in The Dust Bowl, the drought-stricken Southern Plains region, during the Great Depression.
Next, the list crosses the ocean to an isolated island in West Ireland with the contemporary murder mystery novelย The Guest Listย by Lucy Foley.ย
Returning to the United States, the powerful novel,ย The Vanishing Halfย by Brit Bennett, focuses on two twin sisters and issues of racial identity and bigotry in the segregated south.
As we continued to navigate uncharted waters, GMGI saw a year full of new beginnings, growth and innovation.
We are incredibly grateful for the ability to continue forging ahead in pursuit of our ambitious mission. Our fifth Academy class was sent — prepared and confident — into the life sciences workforce. We welcomed our sixth class into this life-changing program. And we cut the ribbon on a state-of-the-art biomanufacturing learning environment that will allow us to reach even more young adults who are looking for “whatโs next.” Our research team had multiple papers published in top scientific journals. We collaborated with leaders in genomics across the country on innovative research projects. And we added five dedicated, talented scientists to the team.
THANK YOU for your continued support of GMGI. Whether you attended one of our events to learn more our organization, responded to our monthly communications with feedback, volunteered your time at the Academy with our students, or provided generous financial support, it has meant so much to us.
From all of us here at GMGI, we wish you and your families a healthy and happy New Year.
In the meantime, please join us for a look back at some 2021 highlights.
Finding a house by a lake and near a city is a challenge, even in Sweden, which is famous for its many lakes. But a young pair of architects struck lucky.

Hello Joey, A friend found the attached among old family clippings. With her permission, I thought I’d share. The fisherman in the checked shirt is Ben Crowninshield. It is stated that the photo was in the 1930’s. I have never heard about the International Tuna Cup Competition (Sharp Cup.)ย The reels look like Fin-Nor’s. The boats look like Novi hulls. Hope these are interesting for you.

You can see the writing Diane Chen did this by hand the hole is where the rod will go to hold up these blocks Joe Numerosi of Numerosi Masonry helped with the first casting of cement. These will be mounted outside of the handicap entrance of City Hall. You will notice the pile of archives that on a table with broken plates etc.
ย This has consumed Diane Chenโs house since 2015. We have great artist In Gloucesterโ and sheโs one. We are fortunate to have this done right here in Gloucester proud one of my legacy I leave as Mayor the other the Boulevard.
