This is a free event for kids, organized by the Gloucester 400+ Athletic Committee, and sponsored by Gloucester 400+. It is designed for children who are in Kindergarten through 8th grade. Bring the whole family to this special event to celebrate the 400+.
The meet begins at 10am Sunday. And for those families that didn’t register their children ahead of time, there will be time to register on the day of, starting at 9am. There will be water available for participants and a free t shirt for those that register up to 300.
The track and field meet has four events: the 100m and 200m, Softball Throw, the (soft) Javelin, and Long Jump. Each child will receive a free t-shirt at registration.
Background: The Gloucester 400+ is led by Tri-Chairs Bob Gillis, Ruth Pino and Bruce Tobey, and Executive Director Elsje Zwart, with more than 100 City and community leaders organized on committees as well as many organizational partners and volunteers. The vision of the Gloucester 400+ is to inspire future generations to honor the past and work collectively to frame the future. The mission is to commemorate, celebrate, and promote knowledge of Gloucester’s 400+ years of cultural, social, ethnic, and economic diversity. Leading up to and throughout 2023, significant programs and events will highlight Gloucester’s rich history and heritage that encompass its extraordinary ethnic diversities, art and culture, remarkable industrial achievements and stellar natural resources.
