Mark Leonard, husband of his loving wife Julie were always together. Mark had with an infectious smile and he will be missed by his many many friends around Gloucester. We are thinking of his wife Julie and daughters Ashlee and Allison and we will post the information for services once we hear.

Julia Kakela Bingle was an engaging fox in the Annisquam Village Players production of Cinderella.

Next week there is a free restoration workshop at First Parish Burial Ground on Wednesday the 14th, 9am-3pm. The workshop schedule includes 10am – Noon: Learn How to Properly Clean Stones.

Main Street in downtown Gloucester will come alive this Saturday, August 10, from 6 to 10 PM! Visit the free Main Street Block Party to experience a fun night of live music, street performances, non-profits, shopping, great food, and kids’ activities! Many Main Street shops and businesses will be open and offering special deals. Additional Gloucester businesses and non-profits will have a presence on the street. The Main Street Block Party is a long-standing tradition with lots of local flavor! You don’t want to miss it!

The International Dory Racing Committee will hold elimination races off the Gloucester Heritage Center dock Saturday August 10th at 8:30 AM. All racing fans are encouraged to attend!! Those dues paying members who plan to race must attend sign ups Friday evening August 9th at the Dory Shop at 6 PM or email (coachbilly@verizon.net) before 12 noon August 9th. These races are strictly for 2 person teams in the following categories: Junior (under 19), Women, Mixed Doubles, Seniors (Men Open) and Master’s (Men over 50). Also, we will have two (exhibition) races in the following categories. Women (Over 50) and Junior Girls (under 19) Starting at 8:30 AM. The races will run from the Heritage Center Dock out towards green nun off Fort playground and back.

Join the Sawyer Free Library on Wednesday, August 14 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. for the next Community Creations at Cape Ann Lanes with local sculptor Ryan Kelley who will present the unique art of sculpting trees from wire. These bi-monthly workshops celebrate art by inspiring creativity and building community.
Well known for his distinctive wire tree sculptures, Byfield, Massachusetts-based sculptor Ryan Kelley’s art transcends a variety of media to include his recognizable wire trees growing from stone bases, large-scale metal sculptures, custom metal wall art, 3-D art installations, and much more.
