5:08AM Pre Loading The Blog For When I’ll Be Away

See those sheets of paper to the left? it’s a scheduled grid I made three years ago. There are 7 columns and 15 rows- 7 days a week across and every hour on the hour from 6am to 8pm going down where we fill time slots.

In one or two more days all of my scheduled time slots will be filled through the 12th.  Except for a few that I’ll leave open in case I get that creative urge while I’m away.

It’s not easy cranking out quality material every hour on the hour.  Thankfully I have the greatest contributors in blogging who have just as much passion.

2012 in the books. Bring on 2013 #Boom!

Harbor Cove Dental To Open January 7th On Main Street!

Hello Joey, I’m Leif Bakland and am new to reading and visiting GMG. I’ve lived in the Fort for almost 15 years and operate a Dental practice in Nbpt, where I’ve been for 32 years. I have been looking for an opportunity to open a practice in Gloucester for the last several years since this is where my wife and I call home. Several of my patients who make the drive to Nbpt to see me have asked me when I’ll be opening an office in Gloucester. I’ve signed a lease with the Cape Ann Savings  and after 5 months of construction, will open for business next Monday the 7th of January!

The address is, 123 Main St., Gloucester, 2nd floor right over ” Kid’s Unlimited “.  The E-mail address for now is: harborcovedental@gmail.com, a web site is being produced now. For almost two years now I’ve been working on this project, and I can’t say enough about the Quality of people I’ve been involved with. It’s exciting to finally be opening in Gloucester. The office phone # is : 978-865-3360
Thanks Joey for any help you can give me. Regards, Leif

Tradition on Rocky Neck

Fred Bodin writes-

For the past 26 years, my good friend Bob Rubin has made amazing Christmas trees of his own design. Every year Bob and his sweetheart Harriett host a dozen or so friends (including Joey C’s Uncle Tony) around New Year’s Day for a “Tree Viewing,” where one enjoys sumptuous hors d’oeuvres and fine wines. There is history and tradition here:

Newell Stadium Progress Report From Dick Wilson

Ron Gilson writes-

Hi Joey:  I talked to my friend Dick Wilson the other day,  requesting a progress report on the Newell Stadium construction. (see download of pictures  below). Things are progressing according to schedule and the entire facility should be ready sometime next summer.  This is a big deal for Gloucester, and for the first time in my life our h.s. athletic facility is getting a first class "the best" up grading possible.  Gloucester will have the premier athletic facility on the North Shore.  The committee is also planning an appropriate dedication ceremony, maybe in the early fall of 2013.  It should be fun.

Ron Gilson

Dick Wilson suggested I provide you an update on the Renewal of Newell – also known as New Balance Track & Field at Newell Stadium.  Dick’s passionate about this facility as a symbol that Gloucester supports our children and schools.

Here’s some of the latest photos.

The construction has been on schedule. Demolition has been done, the site regraded, a new storm drain line installed and foundations for the new athletic field lights have been set. If we can get a stretch of dry weather in the 40’s we may even be able to lay the foundation for the bleachers before January. Things will really shape-up in ~mid-March when the new bleachers will be erected and the preparation for the new turf begins.

The City has committed $298,000 in Community Preservation funds towards the project. As Dick may have mentioned, the GFAA continues its push to raise the last ~$100,000 in funds to revamp the scoreboard and other amenities to create a top-notch facility. There’s still opportunities for folks to donate either immediately or through a three-year pledge. People can contact http://www.gloucesterathletics.org/newell-stadium/
