At first sight #proud of my Dad: HarborWalk Fisherman’s Wharf public art exhibition
Catherine Ryan submits-
At first sight, Leo Vitale finds the panel where his Dad’s boat is featured in a gorgeous Paul Frontiero photograph. His cousin and sisters join in.
Joey Ciaramitaro, Vito Giacalone, Mark McDonough, and Peter Prybot were the original authors of this outdoor display, before it was expanded and updated. The exhibit was restored because the original faded. Artists generously granted reproduction permission of their work. Go see their art! Look for Joey Ciaramitaro, Paul Frontiero, Martin Luster and Brenda Guiled. Individuals and organizations were generous too. More on this later…
More 2015 Gloucester MA Schooner Festival Pics From Mary Barker!
Mary Barker submits-
Hi Joey,
I hope the GMG world can tolerate a few more photos from the Schooner Festival.
Seanna Kelley, the executive director of the Mystic invited Three Sheets to the Wind aboard to sing on a Saturday sail.
She then invited me back aboard for the Parade of Sails and Race on Sunday so I could take some photos OF the
Adventure sailing, not just FROM the Adventure as I’ve done in the past. What a gorgeous vessel she is. I feel
so blessed to have now sailed on a 3 masted schooner. I was very excited to see the Essex built Lette G Howard
in port for the festivities. And the Columbia is nothing short of amazing. The Mystic’s crew were wonderful, and kept spirits high and
lively despite quickly falling into last place during the race and missing a buoy. How great it was that the weather was
so perfect for this amazing weekend.

Don’t be the dope that puts elderly and people with weakened immune systems at risk. Get your flu shot today!
Got my flu shot at CVS yesterday. Took five minutes. Most insurance covers it without a co-pay. The lady who gave it to me was explaining how much overwhelming evidence there is to say it saves lives and then brought up the anti-flouride crusaders and how much misinformation is out there.
She also told me it takes three weeks to take effect, so get ahead of flu season and potentially save lives!

Live Cook: Large Shrimp Wrapped In #Bacon On The @STOKGrills Charcoal Drum #GetStoked
Follow along this evening at http://www.thehomiecast.com for live updates on this cook!
First up I’m going to split up a pound of bacon into thirds and will set up the STOK Drum for offset smoking around 225 degrees for about an hour. I started my coals and pushed them to one side of the grill and tossed a hunk of apple wood on for smoke. The bacon is placed on the opposite side of the grate from the charcoal. The idea is to partially cook the bacon because the shrimp will cook quickly and we want the bacon to finish around the same time once they are wrapped so the shrimp don’t dry out and get rubbery.

While the bacon is smoking I put the wooden skewers we’ll be using in water so they don’t burn up once they’re on the grill. You’ll want to soak them for at least…

9/11 tribute at City Hall
Hi Joey! I was hoping you would let all the good people who like me read your blog.
My husband will be putting up his 9/11 memorial this year in Gloucester City Hall. Dan survived 9/11 on that devastating day as he was on the 74th floor where he worked for the Port Authority of NY and NJ. At that time we resided in Bergen County NJ, but since over to Gloucester 3 years ago
This can be viewed at the Great Hall on Friday until 12:30 as City Hall closed early on Fridays. Thanks

Apologies to candidates McGeary and Verga
Editor note.
Several posts have been deleted due to miscommunication on my part. All GMG CONTRIBUTORS HAVE BEEN NOTIFIED THAT campaign celebration posts will not be posted as I feel that seems to be an endorsement and as I’ve written on all of the political announcements (which we do post) that we do not endorse candidates on these pages. So to Candidates Verga and McGeary please accept my apology for my lack of clarity in previously explaining this to my team and be assured it won’t happen again.

Self-Compassion Takes Practice
Fish Tales at Schooner Adventure
Dear Joey,
You know that one of my personal efforts is to encourage non-profits in the city to work together and help each other grow. Here’s a good example of how that can happen. The poster attached is for Fish Tales, the popular live story telling program that is a part of the Gloucester Writers’ Center. This month it is being held on the deck of Adventure, and will feature former fishing crew member Ron Gilson, as well as several other well-known local raconteurs, telling true stories on the theme “Home.” Adventure is of course tied up at Webster Pier, part of Maritime Gloucester on Harbor Loop. Three great local organizations working together; everybody wins.
Thank you for your help getting the word out on GMG.
Regards,
Greg
