Cape Ann YMCA’s 8th Annual Taste of Cape Ann is NEXT THURSDAY

Cape Ann YMCA’s 8th Annual Taste of Cape Ann is NEXT THURSDAY

The most delicious fundraiser of the year is nearly here – it’s time to get your event ticket. Last year’s event included nearly three dozen food and beverage purveyors and nearly 300 guests!

The Cape Ann YMCA’s 8th Annual “Taste of Cape Ann” returns to Cruiseport Gloucester  on Thursday, November 10, from 6-9PM. The event features the best of Cape Ann eateries offering food, wine and spirits for one $25 ticket price with the proceeds of ticket sales going to support Cape Ann YMCA Teen Service Initiatives.

The service trips enable local youth to spend a week working in communities hit by environmental and economic devastation.  Teens participate in learning modules before and after traveling on school break to offer hands-on aid in areas of great need.  The New Orleans Mission, now in its 6th year, originated as a Cape Ann trip but has generated enough interest to cause its expansion to include youth throughout the North Shore YMCA system.

Taste of Cape Ann is:

A great place for locals to sample food and drink from their Cape Ann food choices

A great reason to get out and support kids doing good.

John Jerome will be keeping us chill with some great live music while Gloucester’s best eateries will be keeping us full and happy.

Restaurants participating so far:

The list ROCKS this year.  Join us on November 10th from 6-9 and samples sweet and savory treats from these great spots and others still rolling in. So many NEW fun places, plus goods from some Foodie Businesses. Be sure to SHARE…

Live Blogging Install Day: Our Solar Dream Becoming a Reality Thanks To Tim Sanborn at Cazeault Solar and Home

Call Tim Sanborn for your own free solar consultation- 774-228-3411

I talked to enough people who had over a year’s real world results with Tim’s company’s Solar Installation and every single one told me they were over-the-top happy with the results and how it was the best financial decision they ever made.

Now that it was time to select a company to do the install on our new home I knew it was going to be Tim Sanborn that I’d call.

Today’s the day after all the research and interviews with people I’ve done over the years that our Solar dreams are coming true!

Kate promises to send pictures throughout the day so check back to see how it’s going.

Venison Marinated in Spiedie Sauce with Onion Stuffed With Bacon and Bacon Fat Coated Smashed Potatos On The @WeberGrills Kettle

More From Joey’s BBQ Blog-
http://www.northeastbbq.com

Joey Ciaramitaro's avatarNortheast BBQ

We’re going to tape a podcast this morning and I’ve had venison steaks marinating in Spiedie sauce for two days.  I figure since the deer meat is so lean we gotta add some fat in there somehow.  Good friends Eric Lorden and Craig Kimberley home smoked some bacon earlier in the week so what the hell, let’s mash this shit up and see how it come out.

I made a little foil tray and sliced up some bacon which I’ll use a couple different ways.

First core out the top of an onion, make some slits inside and stuff some bacon in the top.  Next slice up some more bacon and let it render some of that fat to put on the venison that Ian Fulford brought.

After cooking the onion bacon and smashed potatos using indirect high heat for about a half hour we take the lid off and…

Gloucester Area Astronomy Club Program Note for Friday Nov 11

November 5, 2016 ~ Michael Deneen ~

blogpic

This Friday evening, November 11 at 8:00 pm, GAAC is thrilled to have an old friend, UNH’s John Gianforte, whom some of you may remember from a series of talks earlier this year at the Sawyer Free Library, or from his previous GAAC talks.

If prior experience is any guide, John will hold us all spellbound with a brand-new presentation he uses in his Engineering classes as well as in his Astronomy classes at UNH.

The talk is titled “Is Astronomy Really Relevant?” and along with some general astronomy, John will address some topics that illustrate why it makes sense for humans to know at least a little bit about astronomy, where the field is going and where it is today. All in all this looks like a perfect presentation for a cool November evening.

Come on in for a great night with seasonal goodies and old friends, great entertainment and great conversation. You’ll leave knowing something you don’t know now, and after the meeting you may get a telescopic close-up look at the not-quite-full moon to boot. You can decide for yourself whether or not it’s Super.

GAAC meets at 8:00pm on the second Friday of the month at the Lanesville Community Center, 8 Vulcan St in Lanesville. There is plenty of free parking, no dues or fees, and all are welcome. No special knowledge is required to have a great time. For more info on the club, see the website at http://gaac.us, the club’s Facebook page at http://www.facebook.com/GAACpage, or follow us on Twitter, @GAACster.
