SeniorCare Annual Celebrate Spring Breakfast
Former Valentine’s Day Event becomes a Spring Celebration!
SeniorCare Inc. will hold its annual Celebrate Spring Breakfast to benefit Meals on Wheels on Friday, March 16, 2018, from 7:00 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. at The Gloucester House, located 63 Rogers Street in downtown Gloucester. Tickets are $12 per person and include a buffet breakfast. Breakfast sponsorships are available at a variety of levels. Formerly the SeniorCare Valentines Breakfast, proceeds from the breakfast will benefit SeniorCare’s Meals on Wheels program.
SeniorCare Inc.’s Meals on Wheels program brings a daily meal right to the door of homebound elders, Monday through Friday. Menus are designed by nutrition experts to meet the needs of older adults and are prepared by a professional caterer. In addition, homebound elders have a daily interaction with the delivery team—sometimes their only human contact that day. Join Silvie Lockerova and Katie Schroeder for an evening ceremony of deep healing. Open to deep relaxation through restorative yoga and journey into a heart opening meditation using guided visualization, energy work and cleansing for the mind, body and heart. No experience necessary and all props provided.
Silvie Lockerova is a master reiki healer and meditation teacher bringing her deep wisdom and experience to all her teachings. Katie Schroeder is owner of NSRY and leads Restorative Yoga workshops that support deep relaxation in the mind, body and heart. This workshop is a very special blend of therapy for the body, calm for the mind and breaking open to the heart of what matters as we begin this New Year.

Backyard Growers Presents: Fermentation Workshop

Join Backyard Growers as we partner with Pigeon Cove Ferments at our two-part fermentation workshop learning all about the benefits of fermentation!
Part 1 will be held at Backyard Growers where we will learn more about lacto-fermentation and the benefits of incorporating fermented food into our diets. All ages welcome.

Part 2 will be held at Pigeon Cove Ferments kitchen where participants are fully engaged in the sauerkraut making process and will leave with their own jar of homemade kraut. All ages welcome.

Mayoral Memo: Snow Emergency Updates & Flood Assistance Exploration
1/8/2018 – Last week’s snowstorm and accompanying storm surge was an unfortunate act of nature that resulted in widespread damage throughout Gloucester. This City, like others, requires that residents remove their cars from public streets prior to any storm or snow emergency for safety reasons.
For decades, recognizing that many residents do not have private off street parking, the City has offered off-street parking on public property much like we did last week at Gloucester High School. These offers were strictly optional and residents were free to make other arrangements.
Having said that, my administration recognizes that many are in need of assistance as a result of the damage caused by last week’s storm—specifically those who lost their cars due to the flooding of the High School parking lot. As a result, we will be taking the following actions:
