Chocktaw Rocket a fairly new band around town. I’ve seen them twice before. Once, when they made their debut at The Cape Ann Brewery last year and then again at The Dog Bar Cape Ann, about a month ago.
We had the pleasure of hearing them this week at The Rhumb Line’s Monday night open jam . They were the first band to go on to play after The Bandit Kings opened up the evening.
The first song they performed was one that I have never heard before “Everybody’s Gonna Be Happy”. It was so good that people hit the floor dancing and it seemed they very familiar with the tune.
Their second song was an original that Bill Foley wrote “My Type Of Girl”. Both songs were lively, fun and great to dance to.
I hope we get to see more of this band around town soon

The Large Hadron Collider is proud to present the mashup of the Gods this week as we attempt to create the Higgs Boson’s mate right here at the Rhumb Line. They said it couldn’t be done but they didn’t know we have slide swami Dave Brown being helped out by the commodious Steve Sadler and venerable Dave Mattacks. The sorties will accelerate around the track as the vibrating cesium atom ticks and tocks until critical mass is reached and unused brain cells splatter all over the place. Bring a dustpan! And rubber gloves!
But seriously, folks, this is going to be a very special night with dancing girls in grass skirts and plenty of umbrellas in the drinks, so, get there early and croon the night away. Oh, and remember : our special new hours are 8 to 11.

This is the last show with all the Bandit Kings before Dan King returns back to the West Coast. I am so looking forward to three sets versus the half an hour at the Monday night jam, but at this point I’ll take what I can get. Great original music, songs that you can relate to and ones that make you feel like you are there, especially “Carnival”.
It was great to see the band member smiling during their performance at the jam. It’s good to be whole.

Having appeared as a soloist with many symphony orchestras and in many of the world’s leading concert venues, David Deveau is critically acclaimed internationally. He has received the prestigious Solo Recitalist Award from the National Endowment for the Arts and the Concert Artist Guild Award. David has been the Artistic Director of Rockport Music and the Rockport Chamber Music Festival since 1995.
The Lanesville Community Center will host its annual open meeting on Sunday, April 7, from 4-6 PM, at 8 Vulcan Street, Lanesville. Come and hear the report from the board of directors to the community about what’s been happening over the past year. Offer your suggestions. Bring a dish to share. The Lanesville Community Center is fully accessible with plenty of parking.

Walt Kolenda who runs the auction is fantastic and a treat to watch. Even if you do not go to buy go to see and hear. I know I was smiling most of the night.

March 4th I had the pleasure of going to the Cape Ann Auction at the Magnolia Library
It was my second time attending one of these. I was so confused the first auction with all the number amounts going up and down and all, that I did not bid on anything.
This second time was a little different. I had a method to my madness. There was nice oak dresser I had my eyes on. I got to bid on it but once again got a little excited and lost the bid.
They had this real cute little woodpecker toothpick grabber that I would have loved to have in my possession I did bid on that but it went up so fast I gave up and wasn’t willing to pay what the winning bidder did. I checked online and it the past they sold from anywhere from 7:00 to 54.99 dollars. I think that one went for 25.00 dollars.
Who knows, maybe I will own one someday. This one is on Ebay for 54.99. Way to high for me.
It’s amazing to me how a $3000 mint cherry table went in the low hundreds and a beautifully crafted schooner went for 330.00. Walt said the owners paid at least a thousand for it.
What I did end up bidding on and walking away with was this cute push toy. When pushed a little bell goes off at each cycle. So I did not leave empty handed after all and for 5.00 dollars…oh what a deal.
The next auction will be on March 26th, and they plan on having them twice a month if not more.
This is also where the first auction I went to took place. It was a lot of fun too.
The other address is 17 Kondelin Rd, Gloucester Ma. They will be having indoor yard sales from this address I have been to two this winter and hope to attend many more. There are lots of treasures to be found at these sales
