I am a live music advocate and seek to share the news of bands playing at local venues in my home town. Being drawn to blues mostly but embrace all kinds of music. One does not have to go over the bridge to hear some real fine tunes, however there are some bands that draw you elsewhere. I hope this blog is a good use to you as it is to me.
Enjoy,

Dennis Brennan, Matt Stubbs and Forrest “Frosty” Padgett, Tonight @ The Dave Sag’s Blues Party 8:30-11:30 The Rhumb Line 7.17.2014
Dave says,
It’s a buzzer beater with my missive this time around: what with house guests and emergency cosmetic surgery, I simply don’t know where the time has gone. If you find it, send it back, postpaid, and I’ll buy you a cherry phosphate. So, let’s go!!
This Thursday at the Rhumb Line we feature that glottal gurgler and all-around nice guy, Mr. Dennis Brennan. A fabulous vocalist and harpist, you oughta see what he can do when I’m not around! He’s bringing along his fleet-fingered stunt double in the form of Mr. Matt Stubbs, on gootar, to add a lot of electrical spice, and Mr. Forrest “Frosty” Padgett to stir the pot.I’ll be on soup bone!

And Sunday evening, from 5 to 8, I’ll be down at the Brew Pub cringing whilst backing up a fabulous singer: Ms. Maureen Benson. Backed up by a bunch of the Old Salties, this portends to be a groovie evening of standards from the good old American Schlongbook. Come and say Hi!
And don’t forget Monday at the Rose Biker Senior Center, where the Good Old Salties rule from 1 to 3. C’mon down and get your pacemakers recharged!

It was a great night of music at the first Habor Loop Concert Series July 10, 2014~ Mamadou and The Jake Pardee Band
Beautiful evening, filled with expressive dancing, happy children, blues and world fusion music. The Jake Pardee band invited a special guest Dierdra Darrha to share her talent. She was very sweet performing a country kind of song. I believe the crowd was pleased. Many thanks to Bradley Royds all the sponsors that make this event possible. Especially the sound guys Frank Hawks and John Silveira. Looking forward to the next one.
John Rankin joins the Dave Sag’s Blues Party tonight. All the way from New Orleans 8:30 to 11:30 @ The Rhumb Line 7.10.2014
Dave says,
We’re opening up the bomb bay with a vengeance this week to keep your summer at a frantic pace. First, this Thursday, let’s welcome back honorary Gloucester resident and New Orleans native, Mr. John Rankin. This guy has spent most of his life playing music and teaching at some of the most prestigious drinking schools in the City That Care Forgot: i.e. Tulane, UNO, Loyola and Parchman Farm. This hoodoo hoodlum will be showing up with his muddy boots and eleven foot sack to show you what it really like to suffer permanent brain damage. He got the gris gris and the mojo clubfoot to prove it. Also, he’s my best friend who knows me well and still likes me. Go figure.
Filling out this glowing gasbag of a gig will be that amazing artificer of the honkophonium: Mr. Marque Earley,on tenor and barium sax, and local boy Mr. John Loud, on the eggbeaters. This will be the zenith of interspecies communication! Rhumb Line hours:8:30 to 11:30.

Chelsea Berry Gloucester show on Friday, July 25!

Writing all of you fabulous Cape Ann folks to remind you that my summer show in Gloucester is coming up in 3 weeks!
We have rented the event tent at the Cape Ann Marina (at Mile Marker on 133) and the entire tent will be theater row seating with the exception of cabaret seating up front (cabaret table seats 4 and ticket price includes a bottle of Prosecco!).
Renee & Joe are opening and then I’ll do an acoustic set, followed by a full band set with Renee DuPuis on keys and backup vocals, Joe Cardoza on bass, Dennis Monagle on drums, and Brendan Burns (amazingly talented Somerville guitarist) on lead guitar.
You can buy tickets online at http://www.brownpapertickets.com/event/709321 or in person at Mile Marker 1. Seating is general admission.
This is a one night event so if you plan to attend, please buy your tickets early! We won’t add a second show if we sell out (and I think we will)!
On a side note, I want to take the opportunity to sincerely thank you all for the support you have shown me since moving to Gloucester. Six years ago I began playing open mics at Cameron’s, the Pleasant St. Tea Company, the Rhumb Line, Dog Bar… now most of my shows are in listening rooms and out of state! I’ve worked hard to get here but there is no question in my mind that there is no way I’d be where I am in my career if it weren’t for you. The support system that Gloucester offers to musicians is something truly unique and amazing. It really is because of you that all of these wonderful opportunities have come my way… so thank you, thank you, thank you from the bottom of my heart.
Really hope to see you all on July 25!!
Love,
Chelsea
