Former Gloucester Music Teacher Nominated for a Grammy!

About a month ago Debbie and Friends played at the Old Sloop Coffee House in Rockport, and put on a really great show for the kids. It turns out that Debbie used to be a music teacher from the Gloucester Public Schools – primarily at West Parish from 1987-1991. She then taught in Manchester from 1991-1993 before moving on to bigger and better things – like having a song on an album about bullying called “All About Bullies…Big and Small” that was nominated for a Grammy in 2011! The song is called “Walk Away”. Watch the video here: www.youtube.com/watch?v=-wlWLwP6etE

Now she’s a pretty major talent in the world of Children’s Entertainment and has a wonderful repertoire of original music that engages kids that makes them want to sing and dance. Her videos are great, and cover some familiar ground by telling favorite children’s stories with music. Check out her You Tube channel here: http://www.youtube.com/user/debbiecavalier

Thursday – 9:00 to 12:00 ~ Dave Sag’s Blues Party

Dave Says,

What a great time we had last thursday with the JK® experience! So, to keep it going ,we’re bringing back that tootin’ Torquemada of the tenor sax: Mr. Andrew Clark. AC  always gets the blood movin’ and the feet groovin’ to that funky, ironic beat that can’t be beat. Like habeneros for your soul!   He’ll be joined at the hip by Mr. Andrew Jones, fabulous meter man and pineal reconstruction specialist, on the skins, and, of course, Mr. Greg T. and myself will complete the circuit. So, don’t be a cube, rube; go ape!

John Keegan joins the Blues Party ~ This Thursday night at The Rhumb Line

Dave Says,

We’re gonna  close out this notable year of 2011 by bringing you the world’s biggest…. the one and only Mr. John Keegan®. The greatest wowman in theworld! This guy practically invented the hangover! Gootarist, and vocal gunslinger, he’s sure to put a smile on your face as he pokes your eye out with a mikestand! Fencing masks recommended. But, seriously, folks, we’re trying to beat your liver into compliance in preparation of New Year’s Eve. Come dance to all the magic he can bring to your heart! And all you married guys: bring your wives for a change!   And he’s bringin’ all his ants with him. Crawling up your leg will be an old buddy of mine, Mr. Paul Foss, gleeboard maven and author of the bestseller: “Chicken Soup for The Criminally Insane”. Crawling out of other places will be our Irish Ace Of Pace: Mr. “Molto” Benny Benson. Of course, Greg. T. and myself connect the dots. Rumor has it that millions of saxaphone poofters are showing up, just on accounta…we shall see. And doesn’t it suck that Lat 43 scuttled the Earley Show on Thursday evenings? Get mad! Write your congressman! Give up sushi!

Thursday Night Blues Party at The Rhumb Line With Dave Sag.

Dave says,

As part of Cerebral Hemorrhage Week we’re proud to offer free trepanning demonstrations on the privacy of your own barstool. Cordless drills provided. We’ve even hired the commodious Dr. Steve Sadler to help to defray the cost of an entire rosy, new outlook. Hotflash debunker and Propofol® enthusiast, he’s sure to keep your mind in mind as we troll thru the river Lethe, looking for…what? Great tunes ensue. The fur will fly.   Padding out our Xmas lineup will be that local wunderkind, Mr. John Loud, on ticking valves and tappets. Drummbs, too. A groove of glue. Of course, Greg T., on catarrh, and myself, on base, complete the aggravation. A splendid time for all!     And may I take a moment to thank you all for your continued support down thru the years. Without your support we’d be less than zero. Please enjoy the holidays responsibly. The Blooz Party is safe when taken as directed. Call the Boston Herald if you have an erection that lasts more than four hours!

Happy Holladaze Banditos!

What’s the Good Word?
OMG THATS SOME SIRIUS RADIO: We just know everyone we care about would want to hear that The Bandits spent last Sunday afternoon at Bang-A-Song Studios in Gloucester recording a live radio show for Sirius XM Satellite Radio. No, really. More info TBA.

MINI TOUR! Tomorrow, Friday, December 16 the BKs play the Plough and Stars in Cambridge with the guitar-iffic Brad Byrd; then on Saturday, December 17 Bandits Ann Marie and Dan King take a road trip up the line to Burlington, VT (they promised Flash they’d take her to the Ben & Jerry’s headquarters if she went with them…) where they’ll join Mr. Byrd at Radio Bean Coffeehouse (the place for those in the know, y’know?). Scroll down for times and more show info.

2ND ANNUAL MIGHTY FANCY NEW YEARSThe Bandit Kings and the BFs are hosting the Rhumbline’s NYE Party again this year and if the pictures from last year are any indication of how much friggen fun it was (cause we can’t remember it all for some reason), then this year is going to be EPIC.

BIGGER MINI TOUR! “Hello? Hi, this is Los Angeles calling, is this the Bandit Kings? Fantastic, well, we just rocked so hard with you last winter the entire state would like to make sure you all were coming back rull soon, like, say around January 18-22? Great we’ll see you there!”

BKS ON THE TEE VEE: Bandits Ann Marie and Dan King are on “the scene.” Local Music Scene with Allen Estes that is! Christmas Special! Check Channel 12 for times or see archived shows online here.

SPECIAL THANKS: Well. It’s been quite a month and we need to get a couple of thank you’s out there. You might already know that the BKs sophomore album, Epic Hello, was officially released on November 5, 2011. At the same time, the band’s pretty mugs were on the cover of the November issue of The Noise-Boston, and Mr. Tee Max, editor of the said Noise, made that happen (along with his awesome ladyfriend, Ann, who distributes the zine EVERWHARE!). Tee also co-sponsored the Gloucester Epic Hello CD Release Party along with big music supporters Peter and Vicki Van Ness at Gimmesound. What you might not know is that It is because of our photographically inclined den mother Louise Welch that The Noise even knows we exist, and because of a remarkably well written article by Mrs. Samantha Goddess that the Bandit Kings came off sounding like a grown-up band with real instruments. THANK YOU. From the bottom of our lungs, THANK YOU.

The Bandit Kings are:
Renee Dupuis on lead vocals and keys, Ann Marie, also on lead vocals, Dennis Monagle on drums, Joe Cardoza on bass, and Dan King on lead guitar. The Bandit Kings’ play original tunes written by the band members and hot b-sides by classic artists for longer shows. They have found bare-bones musical chemistry, including the rich meld of vocalists Ann Marie and Dupuis, who “both have voices that bring us back to the dawn of country rock, whisky soaked and raspy in just the right places while never crossing into the overpowering. The song is a rare treat that could have been tossed aside as a boring anachronism in less capable hands.” -Boston Band Crush
