Thursday – 9:00 to 12:00 ~ Dave Sag’s Blues Party

Dave Says,

Just in time for xmas, ladies and germs, May I present to you Ms. Cheryl Arena? One of our most requested singers and harpslingers, and a big time traveller, too, just having returned from Austin, TX., where she purrformed at the I. G. Farben Phocomelus Convention to a nearly standing ovation . Knocked ‘em right over! Cheryl makes it up here to yankee-land 2 or 3x a year and we’re glad to have her. Great energy!   Pushing her along will be that organ octopus, Mr. John Cameron, who needed minor surgery after backing up Lisa Marie last week. And that friendly drummer, Mr. Jeff Casper will be on the diving board all nite long. Of, course Greg T. and myself will be there, too, hastily lumping the sandbags into place. A big dancing nite!

Hey I’m playing The Dog Bar http://dogbarcapeann.com/ tomorrow night (9 to 12) with Brian Haley on percussion….also playing the Rhumbline http://www.therhumbline.com/ Sunday night (8 to 11) solo with a guest or two!

Dave Sag’s Blues Party to host Evan Goodrow Tonight @ The Rhumb Line.

From Dave himself,

We’re baack…., After spending a grueling Thanksgiving week off recuperating from  cosmetic  genital mutilation surgery, I’m back, loaded for bear , and ready to chase you back to whatever evil crevice you squirted out from. So, in keeping with the spirit of the season, I give you: Mr. Evan Goodreau. Just back from the Tarzan Musical Re-Education® Camp, our boy is ready to snort you in and exhale you back into the world of chance. Serial-husband, glitarist, front-man and back door man, Evan’s poised  to melt the wax outa your ears. We love this guy. He’s nearly as full of s*** as I am!    And, of course, to round out the ensemble to the nearest decibel, we’ve conjured up Mr. “Molto” Benny Benson, the Ace of Pace, on eggbeaters, as well as Mr. Greg T. and myself, usual suspects, on catarrh and bass. Don’t miss it! And girls: grief counsellors will be available and standing by.   And for those of you who are un- or under employed, or who have chosen not to find a job*, come wheel yourself in to the Rose Baker Senior Center next Monday afternoon and catch the shenanagans of the Good Ole Salty Jazz Band (or GOSJB), of which I am a small part of. These cats swing! And it’s FREE!! From 1 to 3, we’ll be there, sweating profusely….   And finally, I need some more willing victims for my wayward messages. The mail list has been winnowed down, due to many address changes, returned messages, deaths, etc., etc., so, if you got any new or updated addresses for me, pass ’em along! And don’t worry, i never use them for anything else. Hell, I can hardly use this here computer. email at davesag@verizon.net

Wednesdays at the Rhumb Line ~ With Fly Amero ~ Special Guest ~ TONI ANN ENES

Prime Rib Specials! Wednesdays Only! Hello everyone! Wednesday, November 30th

Special Guest: TONI ANN ENES!

For those who’ve been off the planet for a while, Toni Ann is a local musician (and dear friend) who has played the North Shore for over 30 years.  In 2002 she released a debut CD colaborating with her life long pal David Brown. Her favorite format is a combination of acoustic covers and original music. Bit it’s the intimate, personal connection with her audience that makes the magic happen.  Come say hello.

Dinner with Fly Amero: 8 – 11pm

Local*28 ~ The Rhumb Line ~ Saturday Night

Hey folks – Looking forward to this Rhumbline gig.  Fall is upon us, the holiday season beckons, and we’ve got some new tunes and sick jams on tap.  Hope to see y’all there!

 Check em out >  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Sz2i_-oowtI

Here’s some last minute music info for tonight

This Thursday we welcome back At The Rhumb Line ~ Justin Quinn and his entire aggravation. Harmonica pneumaticist, vogellist, and mohel Sam non-pareil, he’s the koolest kat that is what am. Behind him, cutting a neat figure will be a new guy: Mr. Joey Pappas, on glutar. Friend of JQ, he’s the bees’ knees.  Jon Ross, former henchman of such luminaries as James Cotton and Duke R. will be bangin’ the skins. Of course Greg T. and myself  provide the Habeus Corpus. Roomer has it that several sit-ins and spit-ups will be coming by to interrupt the flow. Gonna be a great nite! Don’t look for premiums as the cost of our medications prohibit the use of them.    And Saturday nite, c’mon down to the “Annie”, aka the performance space at the Blackburn Bldg. Henry Allen gargling his way thru the Great American Schlongbook, as interpreted by the Good Ol’ Salty  Jazz Band. We’ve been working hard to make this a night to dismember. Apparently it’s a benefit for the space itself, well worth your time. Tix are $20 and includes a sickness bag. Starts at 8, goes to 11. A great time for all!
At The Dog Bar ~ Bradley Royds will be opening for Just Like Newman.

Wednesdays at the Rhumb Line

Prime Rib Specials!
Wednesdays Only!

Hello everyone!
Wednesday, November 16th
Special Guest:
ME!

That’s right, folks.  This week’s musical guest: Fly Amero!  So
you know, I’ll be doing a non-stop, 3-plus hour show starting
at 8pm.  Call me self-indulgent.  I like doing this every once
in a while.  For those who may be interested, our recent St.
Andrews, Scotland Orleans performance was reviewed in the
country’s largest news publication, the Glasgow Herald (most
commonly known as Herald Scotland).  Copied below:

Orleans, Inn at Lathones

It’s decades since they troubled chart compilers with any regularity and those who haven’t kept up might be forgiven for thinking that they’d slipped into day jobs in music college faculties or some such.  So it’s great to report that Orleans are very much still around and delivering the kind of performance that made Asylum Records sign them as potential rivals to label mates The Eagles.

Their long overdue UK debut could hardly have been less rock biz and they had one or two equipment problems to sort out before starting but it turned into the kind of pinch yourself intimate experience that people lie about attending.  So if you’re going to pretend you were there, yes, they did start with Let There Be Music and they did do all the hits, including Dance With Me with a really imaginative melodica solo from pianist-guitarist Larry Hoppen, and, for three guys, they made a mighty big, superbly tight, beautifully arranged  sound.

Sibling-close vocal harmonies – Larry and bassist brother Lance are joined by Dennis ‘Fly’ Amero, who replaced original songsmith John Hall – are just one of Orleans’ attractions, however.  Their music digs deep into its American roots, with funky rhythm ‘n’ blues guitar grooves, gospel-soul melodic richness, bluegrass country-style confession and a distinct touch of Little Feat-esque Nawlins boogie.

The rogueish Amero is a serious asset, adding swing and blues songs with panache and absolute honesty and guitar solos that really probed and sang.  But that was the hallmark of the set generally: It may have been a modest room in Fife but in terms of quality and conviction, for these guys, it was the Hollywood Bowl.
