Thursday – 9:00 to 12:00 ~ Dave Sag’s Blues Party

Dave Says,

It’s gonna be a slugfest this week as we welcome back Ms. Diane Blue, the Octomom of the Blues. The gloves come off as we  hit you below your belt of scotch. She’ll be railing and wailing thru the whole canon of R&B, chickpop, and funque. And she’s bringing in the artillery, too: None other than that keyboard octopus himself,  Mr. Cliff Spencer. Cliff has disappeared for awhile now but he’s straightened things out with his parole officer so he’s back in the fold. We miss him!
And welcome a newbie (for us) : Mr. Jeff “Jungleboy” Thompson, on drummps.  Hold the elephants, Sabu. He works with the divine Miss DB all the time. Ungawah! Czech him out! Of course, Mr. Greg T. and myself will be there, taking notes, and squeezing them back out. Don’t let the weather fool you…it’s gonna be hot inside!
And for those of you who are under-employed or suffering from chronic malaise, why not come down to the Rose Baker Senior Center next Monday and work out those kinks. Once again, the Old Salty jazz Band is at it again, swinging thru the trees of life. I’m getting tired of repeating myself, but these guys are a national treasure, and I’m so proud that they let me play with them. It’s free! Hours 1 pm till 3. Wear your truss!

Dave Sag’s Blues Party @ The Rhumb Line to host Justin Quinn

Thursday – 9:00 to 12:00

Dave says,

We have the post Fat Tuesday post-partum blues this week as we welcome back Justin Quinn and his merry band of idiots to our stage. Justin is the meanest and heartiest practicioner of the Mississippi saxaphone (harmonica) that I’ve ever known. Every time his boys show up,  Fred needs an extra clean-up crew! We’ll be wailin’ thru the whole book of Chicago blues. He’s bringing along Mr. Jon Ross, vibrating gootarist to help us with our recovery. Mr. Andrew Jones will be filling those size14 drum duties. Of course, Mr. Greg T. and myself will be there, putting up the cracks.

And then there’s Saturday nite at the Annie. Yet another grueling evening cranking out swing and other sordid dance music with the Good Old Salty Jazz and Swing Band, featuring Mr. Henry Allen on vocals. We’ve done this a couple of times and we really had a ball, so you should get out and dance while your neuromotor system still works. Hours are 8 to 11. Admission is $20.www.HenryAllen.org www.TheAnnie.org www.TheCapeAnn.org

The Rhumb Line ~ Tonight at the Dave Sag’s Blues Party ~ 9:00 to 12:00

Dave Says,

It’s Hadron Collider Week at the Rhumb Line and in keeping with the Blues you can use, allow me to introduce The Earley Birds. No, not led by the riveting saxist you’re used to, but by yet another Marque Earley. This Marque is a fine and dangerous vocalist and top-notch harmonicat. He’d rather drink heavy water and sleep in a hollow logarithm. He won’t take any answer for an answer.
He’ll be backed up by that fine glitartist, vogelist and tree surgeon: Mr. Larry Sortwell or “Lawrence of Ipswich”. His torpedo tube style is sure to please. I like it. He laughs at all my jokes, even when I’m not kidding. Formerly with that great north shore ensemble “Grapevine Road”, now he’s on easy street playing with us. John Loud , drumb octopus, another GV gold medallist will be beatin’ those skins. Of course, Greg T. will be armed and dangerous and so will I, still suffering from chronic euphemism, puttying up the cracks. It’ll be swell! Free admission with prosthetic device!

Dinner with Fly Amero: 8 – 11pm Special Valentines Day ~ Fly Solo @ The Rhumb Line

Dinner with Fly Amero: 8 – 11pm Special Valentines Day ~ Fly Solo

I don’t know why, I just thought it might be a nice idea to
celebrate Valentine’s Day the NEXT day with a setlist full of
love songs and romance.  Call it “music from the heart”, or
whatever you like… it’s my favorite stuff to do.  Not likely I’ll
be taking any breaks – straight through for 3 hours-plus.
Come by early.  Grab a table.  Have a wonderful candle-light
dinner with your your loved one.  And have yourself a warm
and Happy Valentine’s Day! ~ Fly

Dave Sag’s Blues Party to host Mr. Mike Mele. This Thursday night @ The Rhumb Line

 Thursday – 9:00 to 12:00 ~ Dave Sag’s Blues Party

Dave says,

Let’s welcome Mr. Mike Mele back to the fold. Poor Mike: he feels neglected cuz he hasn’t been around much since he’s so busy with that organ grinder trio he’s so proud of. Must be tough taking care of a capuchin monkey: what with the laundry and the pellets and all….
Some years back Mike and I had a nice brunch gig going: played a lot of grueling standards and gargled our way thru many obscure bluesy tunes. Hardly anybody blew their cookies! Now he’s back and I’m gonna try and trick him into doing a few of these neglected gems. watch him squirm!
But seriously, folx, Mike’s a great player, really boffo, and a boon to add to our increasingly expanding Augean Stable. Come czech him out!
Backing him up  will be our tonsorally-challenged madman of meter: Mr Steevie Chaggaris, on drummmbs, and ,of course, Greg T. and myself complete the circle. See you there!

Wednesday’s With Fly Amero ~ Special Guest ~ John Rockwell

Dinner with Fly Amero: 8 – 11pm Special Guest John Rockwell

The guy is a walking encyclopedia of american pop music
and pop culture with wonderful vocal/instrumental skills. He’s
also an engaging and hilarious entertainer who just happens
to be too damned handsome for his own pants. Everybody
loves him, which would kinda piss me off if he wasn’t such a
nice guy and good friend. Enter:
