Author Anna Solomon writes, “I meant to add: An old professor of mine who summers in Annisquam told me about this real-life Lucy Pear, and I got chills! Apparently it is her last name (not middle). I would love to be put in touch with her if anyone has contacts….”

I was reading the book on Wingarsheek yesterday. A woman passing by asked what I was reading, as the title caught her eye. She asked if it was about the Lucy Pear that lives in Annisquam. I was surprised there was actually someone by that name, living. She said, Yes, she lives up on the hill, and pointed across the river, towards Annisquam. I expressed surprise that there was actually someone by that name, now living. The woman moved on pretty quickly and that’s all I know….
